This is terrible! I already dread flying as it is. Now I have to worry if I have spare change handy so I can use the toilet. This is low, even for a heartless corporation.

The UK/Ireland flights average about 1 hour each way..almost everyone could manage a bathroom break before boarding, and refuse to drink the expensive onboard beverages in protest..the only problem might be for people with kidney problems or small kids...

You fly Cairo/NY regularly? wow...that has to be a bum numbing flight..I sure wouldn't like to think there'd be many budget airlines ready to jump into that market for a while yet..2 hours on the ground?! I heard of flights delayed like that in recent years..the cabin crew wouldn't even open the drinks carts before takeoff!

I was just imagining if it were to effect my usual route of flying. Cairo to New York...11hr flight, toilet is a must. Heck even when I fly NY to Ohio, about 1.5 hour flight I sometimes need the toilet because its 1.5 hrs in the air but 2+hrs sitting on the tarmac at JFK...

We were so thrilled with having budget airlines; we didn't mind paying for food and drinks; but for use of toilets? Are they going to time us as well? And what else will they charge next? Toilet paper, facial tissues, safety belts, coin-operated compartments for hand-carried luggage?

Wouldn't that be a nasty twist on the concept, though? TIMED bathroom doors that automatically opened when your time was up! Maybe they could work it like onstreet parking meters-estimate how long you're going to be in there!

Take a look at that link I posted in the comment above on the competition for passengers to make suggestions what the charges should be for, coming next..You could be a winner!

Well they could charge us for air sickness bags. Maybe in the near future we will be asked to tip the pilot and the staff! They could charge us for sitting in the airports. Lord knows they charge us plenty to park our cars there.

Now THERE's an alternative use for a Barf Bag! I noticed those aircraft don't have the seatback pockets that they can put them into,either..Charges for sitting at the airport? The Gate I left from on my flight home last night didn't even seem to have a lounge seating area..I stood in line half an hour waiting for the boarding call..there was a Coffee bar concession beside it with stools and bar tables and notices stating "No food to be consumed in this area not purchased from here.." You got the impression you weren't welcome to sit there either..

My Aunt sent me a joke email, coincidentally about this budget airline..it was a mockup of the in flight safety card "Only £2.50 to read"! with charges listed for use of the emergency oxygen masks and an "Emergency disembarkation fee" of £20 to use the Emergency slides to get out!

OMG...it was on the website! http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/news.php?yr=09&month=mar&story=pro-en-120309 Can You believe the set of brass ones on these people..now they're running a €1000 prize for PASSENGERS to make suggestions as to what the next Supplementary passenger charge to be implemented should be?!

It's ridiculous isn't it? I know they have to make money somehow to keep going but, come on! They charge enough for food and the luggage already!

Rumour has it they're pushing the savings you'll get with a completely online check in process in order to cut back on ticket desk costs at the airport, with a view to phasing them out..don't see it happening as long as people will continue to travel with bags over their onboard limits and continue to be a worthwhile source of extra income!

Yep..R***air are to phase out check in desks from October, and until then it'll cost you £20 per return trip to use one..even better they're gonna charge another £10 per return flight per person from May..the article I read didn't state what for,as this is a charge to those booking and checking in online, printing their own boarding passes, and not bringing luggage..and meanwhile, the charges are the same value whether £ or €,so paying in Euro currently gets you about a 10% discount over the £..They "May" reconsider the situation if the £ regains ground on the €....

Haha. I get you... cuz I myself am a frequent budget airline flyer. But whatever, I'm still enjoying the lower rates they're offering and if they're like to charge for using the lavatory that's fine with me LoL I don't really use the toilet up there anyway. I just don't find it comfortable. Haha.

An update on this story mentions it may not be coin operated doors being installed,as these planes spend a lot of time between the UK and the Eurozone,so not everyone brings Euro along...They're now looking into the option of credit card operated doors! Yep..that's what you really need..kids on the loose with your credit card when the duty free or munchies cart is going around!
