What things are you looking at when you are buying a house?

Look at EVERYTHING. Look inside cabinets, closets, showers..everything. Look for cracks in walls or ceilings. Look at the windows to see what kind of shape they're in. Check faucets and toilets for leaks. Ask questions. Find out how old the roof is, if there's been any major repairs to the structure. Ask about plumbing issues. Find out how old the heating and air conditioning is. You'll be paying for this house, so make sure you know what you're buying. Your realtor should know the answers to these questions, but if not, they can find out for you. You don't want to buy a house and find out a year and half later you're making MAJOR repairs for something. I think the biggest are roof issues, foundation issues and plumbing issues. Of course, it all depends on what kind of house.

Hi theuniverse100.There are a lot of factors to consider when buying a house.Is it a newly built house or a used one?The number of bedrooms and bathrooms are very important for me...and the kitchen as well.

The security of the place should also be a primary concern.It's got to have a safe and peaceful neighborhood.

There are so many things to consider like plumbing,etc.
Make a list of all the things you want for this involves a lot of money.You would want to check all details even small ones.

Location is a huge factor... I'm currently in the process of buying a house and what really pulled me in to the place is that it is within walking distance of where I work and go to school. Other things to look at are the number of bedrooms & bathrooms, what kind of neighborhood it is, how old the house is, if it needs any work done to it... There are tons of factors that come into choosing the right house.

dont be afraid to take a tape measure with you if you have large furniture and are not sure if it will fit. also, like others have said you need to look everywhere.

at the current house we live in, i should have taken note of the dead mouse in our basement because it meant that mice could get in quite easily! fortunately we have gotten pest control and have not had a problem for a few years, plus we have a cat so that helps.

we will be hopefully moving in the next year and this time i sure will be a lot wiser!
