Called apartments but they are all stuck together

Does this make sense to you? Have you ever thought why they are called apartments but there not apart from eachother they are stacked on top of eachother and are side by side of eachother. I guess there not really supossed to be called apartments but then what are they supossed to be called? Interesting discussion to talk about lets hear what you think about it.

They are called apartments because they are made together and then they are separated or aparted by building walls in between them. That is why they are completed floor by floor. Hope answer would satisfy you.
