What makes your friend so great?

If you have a best friend what makes them such a good friend. What things have they done to make you feel they are a great friend? Are you a great friend to them? What have you done for them to make yourself a great friend to them?
When did you meet your friend? How long have you known them for? Do you think you both will be friends forever?

I met my best friend on the very first day of first grade. That was 36 years ago! We have been through marriages, divorces, loss of parents, births of our children and miscarriages.
Children's illnesses, job changes, moves out of state, and then back in. I couldn't make it without him in my life! We fight like cats and dogs but in the end I know that if I need someone he's always there for me. He and my husband are the greatest of friends, and his wife and I meet for lunch at least twice a month
