My daughter handed me a Wal Mart slip today and I just happened to notice the sales tax. This little one horse town I live in is getting 15% state and city sales tax. My daughter told me they were saying on the local news a couple of nights ago this little town is going to raise the city sales tax another 6%. That will be a total of .21 cents on the dollar we will be paying just to spend our money. I think it's about time I got out of this little mud hole of a town.

You betcha. I live in California. Things are pretty bad here. Looks like we are going to get squeezed every which way. Real estate is down, so no juicy property taxes; the government is slashing what the cities and the state is getting. Who pays for it in the end? The taxpayer.

The last time I looked not long ago we were only paying 8.25% and I thought that was high. The increase sure wasn't voted on that I heard anything about. Thanks for the suggestion, I think I will run for the hills, at least out in the country out of any city limits.

We're still at 7% here in Florida but there has been talk off and on about raising it in order to provide folks with relief from our ever incresing property taxes. Your taxes are definitely high and I wouldn't blame you if you moved. I don't think I'd be happy paying that much tax on every purchase I made.

Well 3 or 4 months ago our state and city sales tax was 8.25%. Now are 15% you can just figure the price of everything went up by 6.75%. If they do add another 6% that will be a price increase of over 12%. I was already paying over $80 a month for water. I like a small town but not that much. I'll just find me a place in the country close to another town that is cheaper.
