Oh how I know this will open a can of worms. I really want to know what people are thinking about the new Administration that is in the White House and surrounding houses.
Do you think it is better or worse? If you voted would you change your vote now? What do you think the current Administration can really do? Also, do you think it will change in the Congress in two years when voting is in order again? Will the balance of the houses be switched from Democrats to Republicans?
Please play nice, we all should get along. This is not a question to be debated over; everyone is entitled to their opinions and please respect that. I should not have to write that but it seems that there are some that do not understand this is a peaceful place or at least it should be. Also there is a little thing called the first Amendment.
This does not just pertain to Americans; this pertains to the world, so all are welcome to join in.
Again please play nice.
Ainge

"Democrat" and "republican" are little more than titles, and many of us know (and thankfully some are waking up to the notion of the false left-right paradigm) and it's quite clear now that Obama's policies are quite clearly the same as Bushes--a continuation of many administrations going back God knows when--administrations truly ruled over by the global elite. There is, as it stands now, little hope for American politics.

Wow, considering the date on this... I was expecting some more responses. Two sides of the coin, at least no haters (espousing either "left" or "right" politics)came on board. ciao.

Excellent, Ainge, in my opinion the main purpose of myLot, especially in interests such as the political one, is to do just what you said, "open a can of worms". Let the worms squirm on out, one by one. I'm glad you added the part near the end of your post about the First Amendment and each of us being entitled to our own opinions although you're right, you shouldn't have had to but that's how it goes here. There no doubt will be those who will "debate" what others say but thank you for setting the tone of your own discussion and saying up front that's not your purpose.
I definitely think it's better now and I'm one of those who feel more optimistic about the direction of our great nation than I did a few months ago and I wouldn't change any of my votes, at least not so far. I didn't cast my vote thinking some kind of miracle would instantly take place and I knew there was no "perfect" candidates for any office or from either party. History tells us that the Democrats will likely lose some seats in the next Congressional election in 2010 but it's too soon to tell if that will happen or if they'll lose enough seats to lose their majority. For right now it seems most of those surveyed in various polls are satisfied with the new Administration so far and that the Republicans in Congress are the most unpopular group at the moment. I know there will probably be some who will want to debate that point since there's a poll for every purpose these days and it's all in how the questions are asked.
For now I'll say I'm "cautiously optimistic" about the new Administration and the current Congress. There are things about which I disagree and I'm sure there will be more but the truth is elections mean something and the voters, in huge numbers, sent a message in November. I'm happy that Gitmo will be closed and I'm hopeful it will be handled in a careful way. I'm happy that we now have some idea when the Iraq War will end. I'm happy there will be some investigations into the actions of the previous Administration in several areas. I'm happy that there's at least a chance something will be done about health care and energy in this country because no matter what band-aids are placed on the economy we'll be right back where we are today if something isn't done in those areas. I know there will be things in all of these and other areas that will pi$$ me off completely and I'll make sure everyone knows it when they do but for now I'm feeling better than I have for about 8 LONG years!
Annie
