how long did it take you to get used to a new computers keyboard?

I can change my self easily.For any new work,only 5-10 minutes to adjust.I have computer and laptop with me.Even though it is difficult for me it seems easy.Of course computer keyboarding is hard compared to laptop keyboard.There is no need to worry,you would soonly adjust to your keyboard.

Funny you should ask. I got a new laptop in August, and the keyboard was totally screwed to the wall, when compared to the keyboards i was used to...even the ones on my previous two laptops. It took me about three days to get used to it.

My husband needs a new coomputer and is using my laptop, in the meantime. He HATES the crap out of this thing!!! It's driving him completely crazy, and he doesn't think he'll ever get used to it.

Then again, he's quite a bit older than I am, and has been using computers since the early 1960s. I guess he's just set in his ways. LOL

I never had much trouble to adapt to any keyboard. As long as the keyboard layout is the same it is easy. I remember it was very uncomfortable typing in a German, or a French keyboard where some of the most frequently used keys are in different place. Now I use an Anglo-russian keyboard but what I have in my head always is the Spanish layout. Even if I type in English I use the Spanish one as apart from a few keys like (, ), _ or + all the other symbols are in the same place. If I type in Russian then I have to adapt to another alphabet where everything is different.

Finally, you got the system..good! for new users changing keyboards will not matter much, but for the ones who are well-versed with typing, it would be a big headache, thats why i always try to repair it somehow and never try to change my keyboard, the last time i did was a year ago, there were some differences in the placement of keys in the other keyboard, so got 2 weeks for me to get used to it during which time, my typing speed also diminished, but now its perfect

Boy, have you hit on the problem of the century! Right now, I am using my wife's laptop and I absolutely hate it because the keys are totally wrong. I left my PC in Arizona when I moved and I really miss the keyboard.

For years I used a DEC LK-450 keyboard, which I am the most comfortable with. When they went out of business I bought a dozen of the keyboards and still have one in Arizona to be shipped to me when I'm ready with a new PC. I am used to a numeric keypad, which the laptop doesn't have.

Well,I havent used to many diffrent style keybords. But my mothers laptop keybords,im sure I will never get used to using. I hate it.. I suppose it has alot to do with my short arms. its so uncomfterble. but also when u type your arms somtimes accidently graze the mouse pad and the typing flashy bar thing get all jumpled in and next you know youtyping at the beginning of the paragraph THAT is frustrating,, i wanna smash it sometimes because somtimes I dont pay attention to the screen when i type..
but I recieve my new computer today and mabey it will have a diffrent style keybord,not really sure I have a dell keybored now so it might not be any diffrent...well see:)..

LOL - I honestly can't use a laptop because the flat keyboard drives me nuts. I have my good old pc with an ergonomic keyboard. People either love them or hate them and I love mine.

It took a few days to get used to it, but in the end it works so much better for me.

it took a few days...nornally it doesnt seem like we should take time to get used to a keyboard but it happens

I have also experienced working on different computers. From one brand to another, from one program to another version, I adjust myself pretty well. I've always been interested in computers so I just go with the flow in tinkering around with it. I guess the biggest adjustment I had to make was about a couple of years ago --- this was when I finally got my very own first laptop. You see, I was so used to using the normal kind of mouse, the one that has a wire and this big thingy at the palm of your hand. Well, when I had my laptop, I had to make major getting to feel the mouse with just my fingertips. It took me quite a while to get used to it. After that though, I've gotten pretty well easily with all sorts of computer mambo jambos. I'm not that highly equipped though, just average, but I'm learning stuff here and there :-)
