frustrated with furniture |
|
as a few of you know i have recently moved.since i decided to move i also decided to get new furniture.well i have purchased a new bed, dining room table and chairs a new lounge.it all looks lovely displayed in the shops.firstly you have to have it delivered, which is never convienent as they have certain delivery days, and i am usually working those days and have to have time off, then its delivered,in boxes and i have to assemble the lot.i was so frustrated trying to work out how to screw this bolt here and there, especially the bed, which fell apart with my son in it.then on top of that you have to get rid of the boxes.i paid good money for these items, you would think they would be assembled for you, even by the delivery guys.have you been frustrated by this.cheers sue

It took a long time to deal with them, and no warranty compensation was given. What most upsets is we often hear about diseases caused by pollution. Why the manufacturers could be entitled to produce such furnatures? Who is responsible for that?

suehan1 (1907) | 10 months ago | i really don't know who is responsible for all that.i know the service i had was bad.and my bed fell apart,as the dowel was not clued at all.it took me a week or 2 to get things sorted out, when i paid a lot of money for a new bed,and my son had to sleep with me.cheers sue

This type of furniture invariably has instructions written in English by a dyslexic Chinaman who learned his English in Russia from an African Tribesman who once went on a day trip to Capetown but found himself on the French tourist bus! It is deigned to benefit the seller and not the purchaser. You can palletize flat boxes far more easily and distribute them that way too. The punter doesn't know what they are getting until it arrives and then spends weeks trying to get the company to send you screw A and nut B. They of course send you screw B and nut A and so on. Good luck with it and I hope that your son isn't too badly hurt.

suehan1 (1907) | 10 months ago | my son is fine,he is a strong boy.you really crack me up pike.what you said is exactly right, you need about ten different languages, just to read the instructions, which takes you about 2 weeks to read.nothing is ever simple these days, then it takes another 6 months for the company to get back to you if there is something faulty.it would have been easier if i built the bed myself.cheers sue

4. wolfie34 (13930) | 10 months ago | That is one word that fills me with dread and makes me go totally cold, DIY! I can't do it, I know strange for a bloke to say it, but I hate those flatpacks, the furniture you have to put together yourself, when the instructions that come with it are about as much use as a chocolate teapot, providing you find the right language of course! The diagrams are usually appalling to say the least. I got so angry once that I snapped a piece of wood in anger and said that's it NEVER again! I refuse point blank to buy any furniture unless someone can put it up for me or it comes as a whole! It's worth paying the guys the money to put it up for you, than raise blood pressure, break the thing and spend hours and hours and hours trying unsuccessfully to fit it all together when they can probably do it in five or ten minutes.

suehan1 (1907) | 10 months ago | yes your right wolfie,i guess it is worth a few extra dollars to get them to put it together, and less stress in trying to work out how to do it,it would save me a lot of hours reading.it really gets me going we pay so much money for things to turn up in a flat pack and trying to get rid of the rubbish, its taken me weeks.cheers sue
