in the spirit of good old movies... |
|
not that i am prejudiced or anything. i do like recent movies, in fact i am drooling while waiting for some. however, sometimes it is just so good to go back to the movies, no matter how old, that first broke your heart, that first made you smile, that first made you hope the there is true love.
when it comes to old movies, La Vita E Bella (Life is Beautiful) always comes to my mind. A love story that keeps hope in the middle of the holocaust. Then comes other movies, of course, that had made silver screen history...
but when i say 'good old movie'...what film comes (right away) to your mind?

| 1. mrsyen (33) | 10 months ago | Hi liaamur! When talking of "good old movies", what always comes to my mind is old hollywood: Gone With the Wind, Casablanca, An Affair to Remember..also the big musicals of that era: An American in Paris, Gigi, The Wizard of Oz. Old movies always bring me a sense of nostalgia.
| |
| |
|
|
liaamur (198) | 10 months ago | those are indeed classic, although i have yet to see 'the american in paris'. could you give a review?
| |
|
|
| mrsyen (33) | 10 months ago | An American in Paris stars Gene Kelly and features the music of George Gershwin. The story is actually very simple: Gene is a struggling painter who is discovered by an heiress, but he falls in love with a French girl (Leslie Caron) who is already engaged to a singer. What makes this movie so great are the fantastic musical numbers, especially the final 20-minute ballet. If you are a fan of musicals, this is a must-see!

2. Canellita (3310) | 10 months ago | There are so many old movies worthy of mention. What comes to mind for me is just about everything Carey Grant, Audrey Hepburn, Irene Dunne, David Niven... Movies were so different back then.

liaamur (198) | 10 months ago | i have been unfortunate not to have had tv during audrey hepburn. i have read the whole hepburn biography, and i am collecting movies of them. as for audrey, i have always admired her.
yes, movies then and now are vvvery different. sometimes, recent movies are made for box office and not for content, made within 2 months and not thought over.

An old black and white movie that had a little romance as well as adventure. I can't remember, but I think that Katherine Hepburn was his co-star.

5. thedailyclick (1117) | 10 months ago | I seem to be the same and spend more time watching films from the past than new releases. Whilst I love the era of Golden Hollywood I have a big thing for 80s teen flicks such as "The Breakfast Club", "St. Elmo's Fire", "Ferris Buellers Day Off" they always seem to put me in a good mood. Plus you can't beat a bit of "Blues Brothers as well".

9. michaeldadona (3787) | 10 months ago | PLOT ~ La Vita E Bella (Life is Beautiful) Genre: Movie Trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NBfjzzAVjWo
It is a 1997 Italian language film and the story telling about Jewish Italian life. Yeah, a good story because an old film always based on true life story.
MINE FOR "A BEAUTIFUL MIND" Also got the word for "beautiful", the only different is mine for "mind" and yours is "life". Quite good, I take for mind and you take for life, both are for beautiful. Youme and Meyou...LOL!
The story is about Professor John Forbes Nash, Jr., where he had encountering many life obstacles and predicaments during his life before reaching the end life value in his many researches in Mathematical scientific research, including code breaking and mathematical equilibrium. Suspected encountering schizophrenia (actually not), broken marriage for seven (7) years before reunion, and so much ordeals that he has to face from his close academic community.
MY ADMIRATION What I like much this story and will never take other film/movie over it, just one great thing that really inspired and aspired me is the life philosophy "No pain no gain, no wish no bliss". Finally, he won the title "Nobelist" after world really appreciated his contribution in his Equilibrium Theory, proven flawlessly.
Some Plot of it if you have time and why not?; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ap5BeA0VNNY
