A couple of days back I just went for a stroll with my daughter in a park.

It's odd how, as we grow older, we see older people in a different light. When I was younger they were just other people. Now I find myself thinking more about them and what they do and what are their thoughts too. Whether they wonder about their past or about their future.

I trust that the lady on the the bench had happy thoghts about her past and was immersed in them.

Did you stop and talk to her?

Hi, balasri! I am glad that you enjoyed your stroll in the park! Maybe the older woman that you saw was in a deep thought, or maybe she was worried about something.. When I see something like this, I will pray for this person. You never know what is going on or could be going on. I may also smile and say hello. Maybe that could have cheered her up some. There is no telling what was on her mind, that is why, we should, show compassion for her feelings. It is sweet to know that you were concerned about another human being. God loves this type of attitude!

I do this wheneveri got to the park Bala. I sit around and try to understand what is going on in the minds of people, especially elder ones sitting by themselves. Reflecting on thier family, thier childhood, their lives gone by. And when they see young children like your daughter i'm sure it takes them back to some veryfond memories as well.

She was probably doing the self-same thing, my friend, looking back on her past days of childhood and adulthood. Don't feel sad for her because she's probably quite content that she can still get to the park and sit on a bench, being at one with nature. A lot of elderly people are confined to their homes, but this lady was able to enjoy what time she does have. I hope you stopped by and said "Hi" to cheer her day!

The knowledge and experience in her mind is probably so vast that it would be hard to say what she must have been thinking. I have seen older people deep in though and had my heart feel heavy also. There has been so many trials and tribulations for the elderly that at the age we realize this..we gain a appreciation for it. Take care friend.

I know exactly how you feel, balasri. We are all getting old, and sometimes it feels very strange. When my daughter was visiting a few weeks, ago, I caught sight of her hand next to mine on the table. Hers was so smooth and nice - and all of a sudden I realised mine was wrinkled and old. It was a shock, because not so long ago my hand looked like hers. Sad ...

I don't know why this discussion compelled me to respond. There was this certain impact on me. This early, whenever I talk to my twin daughters, I make it a point to always hug them or hold their hands. I want to be very very close and affectionate to them. When I grow old and weak and my face is marred already, I am praying, and hoping that my twin daguhters will learn to take care of me or at least still show an ounce of affection and attention.

She might have been lonely. Next time you see an old lady
sitting on a park bench like that you might want to go
and sit next to her and strike up a conversation with her.
Maybe she would have liked someone to talk to.
That way you wouldnt be wondering about it now.
