The number beside your user name

I was under the impression that the number changed when you posted a new comment or discussion. Since I've left and come back, I have noticed that the number does not seem to be changing as quickly as I thought it once did. I started the day with 1003 and I've been commenting like crazy all day, and I'm just now at 1011? What gives with that? Can someone please explain to me one more time what this number means?

that's the weird thing, if you comment on comments in a discussion you started, you don't get a rise in number, but I think you still get paid... at least you are encouraging people to continue discussions with you

I think chatty discussions do earn more. Not necessarily measurably, but incrementally. Just like quality responses earn more than one line responses do. Quality work and good interaction do tend to make your earnings move up rather that poor work and ignoring others, does.

No clue - haven't figured out the method of the mylot pay system

this is true! It would be nice to know what we get paid for. For instance, I started a discussion, you commented, and then I comment back. Do I get three credits or just two?

I don't even pay attention to it. I think it saves me a lot of grief.

Some of what appears in your earnings depends on your time zone as compared to the MyLot time zone. I also remember staying up until one or two in the morning posting, and being dismayed by the paltry earnings, until I realized that after midnight everything counts on the next days earnings.

Yeah, that happened to me not too long ago. I was sick with a horrible sinus infection and couldn't breathe, therefore it seemed pointless to lay and toss and turn keeping Mike up. So I got up and came into the living room and wrote on mylot and gather until about 4 a.m. until finally I fell asleep sitting up. When I woke up, I was so disappointed that none of my points had been counted here. But then the next day, they popped onto my account.,

Sounds like you have the right idea! I'm always stressing out over things like that when I probably shouldn't. I do remember thinking when I first started here that the number only went up for those discussions that you started. I had questioned about another member that I knew wasn't starting any discussions but yet his number was growing by the hundreds each day and was told it went up with many things you did.

Yes, the number besides your user name does chance with each New post that you post in here as long as you're not posting in Discussions that are against the TOS or you start a New discussion that is against the TOS as well. Since myLot admin is always going around updating this site, there might be some differences all of the time for sure. All I can say is keep on posting and being active in here as you can, and Good things will happen. Wishing you the Best.

As I said, I've been gone for several months, and am just coming back. One of the gentleman that was always commenting on my discussions is now gone! I was told that he had been banned from mylot for service violations. I'm not sure how but another mutual friend said he was cheating the system to make more money rather than working like the rest of us.

Hi, Paula, make sure you are RESPONDING not commenting. In a discussion you will earn one point for responding, and one point for the discussion you start, after it has received its first comment. If you are in a valid discussion and you make a response, you can generallly also make one comment and earn a point. I hope this helps a little.

I think so. I've decided since I posted this discussion question that I can't figure out the points system, so I've quit trying. One day, I didn't think I had done hardly anything, and earned over a dollar. But that was a day that one of my discussions got about 30 people responding to it, so maybe that was part of it!

If you create a new discussion, the number will update after the first response in the discussion; if you comment within the discussion you start, the number does not change... If you make comments within different discussions, that should change unless it is the same comment to the same response in one discussion I think... hope that makes sense

I think so :) I've been gone for awhile, and things are starting to come back to me, but it's taking some time LOL For instance, I know that you get about a penny for each thing that you do here, but I can't remember if you get credited if someone else comments on the discussion that you start.

I wish there was a way to make the points add up a little faster. I'm on gather more right now because I can earn more faster over there. I'm at the point where I'm gaining about 100 points a day. But, I guess it all adds up together. I did get to the payout here on mylot this month and still ahve a little bit left over that I've earned since the first of the month.

Yup, you get credited for all the activity in your discussion you start apart from your own comments to those responses (I think..) Thanks for the BR

Well I was thinking that it would change when I commented on my own discussions, but I have since found out this is not the case. So, I will just keep plugging along and see where it leads me! LOL I'm having fun. Some of my discussions have really taken off, which is really a good thing, because that's more money for all of us! LOL

that makes sense. I don't know exactly what the system checks. for instance, what do we get credit for on comments. How does it figure the totals? Do you only get credit for what YOU do or do you get money for what someone comments on discussions that you start?
