Phobia "morbid fear" is a disorder that is characterized by an intense, irrational and persistent fear of things, creatures, animals, people, and events or situations. This is usually associated to extreme anxiety. We have been familiar to some type of phobias like claustrophobia (fear of closed spaces),social phobia (fear of being in social situations), arachnophobia (fear of arachnids like spiders etc.) and so many other phobias. However, have you heard of paraskavedekatriaphobia and triskaidekaphobia?. Do you have an idea what kind of fear does a person have when he has these two phobias? Kindly share what you know about these phobias.

I recognise The second one as being a fear of the Number 13...I honestly haven't a clue what the first one might be,but I'm fairly sure I don't have it either! I don't think I have any strong phobias...at least, none that keep me from leaving the house or going to work each day!

Do you have any simple phobias like having some fear in heights etc.? Everyone of us has some fears though it doesn't mean your abnormal having them though. As long as it doesn't interfere with your normal life its ok. If ever you have one fear Shepherd, how would you cope up with it. Can you share some tips on how to avoid if not relieve your fears? Thanks for the response.

I don't think I have any phobias-although in saying that,I don't like having needles stuck in me by Dentists or Doctors, and though I don't mind being high up in a building or airplane,I don't fancy the Idea of parachuting or bungee jumping out of anything! The Nearest Capital city to Me is Belfast,Northern Ireland-There's a large Ferris Wheel in the grounds of city hall which I went up on a few months ago..A friend refused to go up on it at the time! Although tall enough to give a panoramic view of the city above most rooftops,at 100m tall,it's only half the size of the "London Eye",which I've also been on..Phobias can be the result of an experience while very young,or irrational, though I can empathise with those afraid to fly..some can be treated, but forcing someone to confront their fears isn't a good thing imo..

Paraskevadecatriaphobia (from Greek tris=three, kai=and, deka=ten) is fear of the number 13; it is a superstition and related to a specific fear of Friday the 13th, called paraskevidekatriaphobia or friggatriskaidekaphobia.
