It is unforatant that this has happen in a small town. but crouption can exist anywhere. It is a bit hard to belive what the report says but I suposed it could very well happen if enough persons are involed in it. I am sure the media has enbislihsed just a bit for ratings, but that is the way the media is. well the matter is still being investagated so hopfuly the truth will come out soon.

Honestly, my friend, I can WELL believe this because I KNOW Texas. I've talked to people that live in that county - tho the last time was in the 1990's.
I have also stopped into court houses around the state and wanted to meet some of the people I had communicated with over the years and found them not in their offices for various reasons - and not because it wasn't a work day.
I also had one District Clerk call me up and tell me that the entire staff of the previous clerk had quit the day she took office so there was no instructions on how to do her job.
I talked her thru my tiny part of her job and told her to feel free to call me if she had more questions about what she submitted to our office. We talked about every other week for a couple of months and she wrote my boss a nice letter about how helpful I was.
I also talked to a clerk in another county and her deputy (and they were pleased as punch that I had dropped in) and then a couple of years later passed on their tactic to the one county we had nothing but trouble getting to submit forms correctly. Wouldn't you know, only a year later we didn't need forms anymore at all, because we started using the decrees themselves to get our info.

It was great that you could be helpful that you were able to help your friend when she was in need like that. I do undstand when the powers that be will put you somewhere with a postion of responbillity and expect you to prefrome when you have no training.

Hm, is this what they mean when they talk about "country club jails"?

What do you expect. It's near the Oklahoma border. The folks in that part aren't like normal Texans. Ask anyone from a normal part of Texas and they will tell you that those folks aren't really Texans.
