Long before cellphones and internet messengers, we share our thoughts, greetings, sympathy and notices through posts or courier services. With the development of technology and the birth of new innovative gadgets for communication, fax machines, cellphones and computers has made communication faster as compared to postal deliveries. In your own thought, would you still resort to writing a letter and carry it to the postal office? Would you consider letters now to be a thing of the past? Share your opinions and feel free to give your ideas.

I understand that e-mailing someone is faster and thus, a more efficient way of communication. However, I still believe there is merit in writing a letter because it is a personal touch that the computer cannot add. I understand that some people have messy handwriting, but that it was makes a letter unique; not to mention, I find that at times I like the anticipation of waiting for a letter to arrive knowing that I'd sent that other person a letter as well. Not to mention, those who go through basic training with the military only have the options of letters or the occasional phone call to keep in contact with friends and family while going through it. I personally like having pen pals by snail mail because it's fun to wait for a letter and admittedly, I love an excuse to use stationary.

Thanks Elegant for responding, Yes it is true that letters are more personal and has some magic attached to it. It makes you feel excited when you recieve some letters specially from a close friend or relative from far away places. So what can you say if ever the goverment will dissolve the postal services now that most people use emails, mobile phones internet in communicating. How many times do your write and send letters to the post. Thanks for your response.

I am on a long distance relationship with my bf who is in Belgium.
I send him sms and emails everyday but there are occassions that I still send him some postal letters, post cards of tourist destinations in the Phils and some greeting cards like last Valentines' Day. A postal mail can not be deleted like emails or sms, they are being kept by the recipient, not unless the relationship is over then he will throw it away. I wont mind the expensive postal charges which is PHP115 per mail.

Letters are indeed best in terms of making your message really personal. It serves as a reflection of who is writing the letter, a mirror that shows atleast a part of that person who is sending the letter. Not like emails, texts or calls, which can readily be deleted and forgotten as time goes by, letters are good evidence of memories and sweet sharing of thoughts and love. Do you think postal rates should be reduced so many can still afford to send letters to other countries? Thanks for your response.

For me long distance calls are very good nowadays
.Writing letters take a lot of time.It also takes a long time for the person to receive it.Texting is very cheap but we need to type the minimum set of words we cannot write words more than talk.Talking on the phone is very fast and it is very easy to convey the message.

It is really helpful when you call directly the person you need to talk to. You can really specify and supply the exact directions you are going to give to the person your calling in real time, and know his or her reactions. The problem of long distance calls is that they are so expensive and sometimes the lines are down, though not at as frequent though. So do you think telecommunications companies should reduce call rates? Thanks for your response.

Call me old fashioned, but I still like to send cards and letters by mail. I tend to do these for personal communication between friends, and send e-mails or phone for anything work related.

Though technology has provided us with lots of options to convey our message faster, still the essence of showing a more confiding way of greeting a loved one is through letters. It is more meaningful and much unforgettable, because it will be treasured for long, as compared to calls and emails wherein they may be deleted and forgotten. In letters you can reminisce the past the time it was given and the thought why it was sent to you.Do you think writing letters or snail mails will be forgotten in the future? Thanks for your response.
