| | I understand that e-mailing someone is faster and thus, a more efficient way of communication. However, I still believe there is merit in writing a letter because it is a personal touch that the computer cannot add. I understand that some people have messy handwriting, but that it was makes a letter unique; not to mention, I find that at times I like the anticipation of waiting for a letter to arrive knowing that I'd sent that other person a letter as well. Not to mention, those who go through basic training with the military only have the options of letters or the occasional phone call to keep in contact with friends and family while going through it. I personally like having pen pals by snail mail because it's fun to wait for a letter and admittedly, I love an excuse to use stationary. | | | | | | |

| | It is really helpful when you call directly the person you need to talk to. You can really specify and supply the exact directions you are going to give to the person your calling in real time, and know his or her reactions. The problem of long distance calls is that they are so expensive and sometimes the lines are down, though not at as frequent though. So do you think telecommunications companies should reduce call rates? Thanks for your response. | | | |

| | I am on a long distance relationship with my bf who is in Belgium. I send him sms and emails everyday but there are occassions that I still send him some postal letters, post cards of tourist destinations in the Phils and some greeting cards like last Valentines' Day. A postal mail can not be deleted like emails or sms, they are being kept by the recipient, not unless the relationship is over then he will throw it away. I wont mind the expensive postal charges which is PHP115 per mail. | | | | | | |

| | Letters are indeed best in terms of making your message really personal. It serves as a reflection of who is writing the letter, a mirror that shows atleast a part of that person who is sending the letter. Not like emails, texts or calls, which can readily be deleted and forgotten as time goes by, letters are good evidence of memories and sweet sharing of thoughts and love. Do you think postal rates should be reduced so many can still afford to send letters to other countries? Thanks for your response. | | | |

| | Call me old fashioned, but I still like to send cards and letters by mail. I tend to do these for personal communication between friends, and send e-mails or phone for anything work related. | | | | | | |

| | Though technology has provided us with lots of options to convey our message faster, still the essence of showing a more confiding way of greeting a loved one is through letters. It is more meaningful and much unforgettable, because it will be treasured for long, as compared to calls and emails wherein they may be deleted and forgotten. In letters you can reminisce the past the time it was given and the thought why it was sent to you.Do you think writing letters or snail mails will be forgotten in the future? Thanks for your response. | | | |

| | Hello Pickwick, yes truly I agree with you that most people use emails through computers and celphones to send messages nowadays. Sending messages faster throughout the globe are very important in business and commerce. Also greeting a loveone away from home is just a click on the keyboard and there you go in minutes he or she got it. Do you think that snail mail or postal mail will just be a thing of the past? Will there be a time that post offices will not offer services for mailing your letters?. What can you say about this. Thanks for your response. | | | |

| | Letters are even more personal to the reciever and has a personal touch from the sender. And you can keep it and those letters will bring back the memories over time. Do you think Janene, there will come a time that postal services will stop because fewer people are now sending letters? Thanks for your response. | | | |

| | You are very right. Can't beat that personal touch. To this day I still read some of my penpal letters from when we were kids and it always makes me smile just to see where we were in those days :) I don't believe the postal service will close anytime soon because of the impact of emailing and texting. I plan to keep it alive! lol | | | |

| | It is truly fascinating to write a letter to someone that is special to you. Yes, we had emails, chats texting and the like to send our messages faster but still letters are somewhat unique in a way that its really exciting to feel the time and sweat spent by the writer to make that for you. You can really see the effort given and you can have an idea how faithfully and carefully those simple words contained from that letter came from his heart and goes to his mind and written by his own hand. Its such a great feeling also to write a letter to someone, and you can really convey what you really feel, you can add some personal symbols like a kiss mark or a rose petal or even your cologne to add flavor to your letter, as if the receiver will know that your there handing over that letter. So I bet postal letters will still be a good communication tool no matter how fast technology has become. | | | |

| | Very true. My mom and I keep up letter writing and sending 'just because' cards to each other etc. I remember writing to my penpals, I use to get special stationary paper, glitter pens, cute stickers, sometimes if I could not find the 'burnt looking paper' I would singe the corners of the paper to make it look, soak it in teabag water for a bit to get that look, let it dry :). Truly the effort we made to do that was truly awesome. Speaking of which, I'm overdue to writing some friends :). I'm glad I found this group. Thank you ;) | | | |
