A DARWIN GPS? rasp
GPS/Satnav Devices are supposed to take the pressure off your driving to places you may be unfamiliar with by acting as a virtual copilot so you never get lost...in Theory,that is..
What I'm Calling a "DARWIN" GPS (Disclaimer-No similarity to any actual GPS manufacturer intended,or should be inferred!) Is one that takes you someplace you didn't mean to go and apparently tries to kill you (Look up Darwin Awards if you've never visited the site!) by directing you to go the wrong way down a one way street,taking you along farm tracks suitable only for tractors or 4 wheel drive vehicles,that sort of thing..Ever done anything like this? Do You blame the machine or common sense?

I'd rather read a map thumbup

The only time I've ever been in a car with someone who was using GPS was last New Year's Eve when I was at work, lived at the other end of the city and the buses had stopped for the night. I wasn't going to pay for a taxi (triple fare!) so a guy from work gave me a lift.

He refused to let me tell him the way and insisted on using his new GPS instead.

Well, we went on the wildest, goosiest chase I've ever taken part in! lol A twenty minute drive took us twice the time because the little thing kept telling him to turn too late, when he'd already passed the turning rolleyes

I know! It really was frustrating when we were coming up to my street and I told him to turn right, but he wouldn't because the little woman in the little machine hadn't told him to and clearly she knew more about where I lived than I knew...
