Now a days, I am trying to cut down unnecessary expenses. I believe that money saved is money earned. I had put a huge clay pot in my room and I am putting all the coins I get and small small rupees in it and is trying to save money. How do you save money?

The proverb interpreted for the same issue is true for today's situation. Expenses that overburdened the greatest economies of the world are now prevented of. Everybody should have some savings to live his/ her future life with no worries. Traditions that are followed by some developing countries, conservative if capitalist call it be, the countries are doing much better that the greatest western economies and lending money to them and working as a support of their survival. Keep all your coins saved in your own piggy bank or 'Gullack' this will definitely help you in your bad days

I currently put my money in jars and such, and I try to keep money in the bank, but it gets hard. My daughter is always needing something. Or I am wanting to buy something. It is really hard to save these days.

Most times we look to make extra money, but when we save money it is like we earned extra money. I would suggest you to save pennies and small drops of water makes rain and same way pennies make huge money after a year.

I think we need to save money for the future and in old days people used to save two to five percent of what they earn for the future and some people used to save more than that.

Yes I think money saved is money earned, however, I look for ways to make more money too. Like I am putting money each month into a saving plan and it would generate more money in a few years' time than I am putting it into bank account straight. And besides I try to gain a few bucks here and there so that I could earn more money.

Sometimes we work hard to earn money and spend the money without any concern on things we do not need.

Right now my fiance and I are using the money we make online for our wedding, but we are surprisingly not spending as much as we had originally thought. My fiance's mother is helping a great deal by buying things for us, but other then that we are truly not spending as much as we had budgeted. I hope that we can continue in that sense, lol. Now as for savings we have our own system by using old chip cans (pringles) to save money. Online I am thinking more of the money we earn as savings since that is what we are hoping to do after our wedding. So many people are finding themselves in the hole and my fiance and I hope that we do not end up being one of them. We don't own our own home but are living with my fiance's parents and are trying to help save them by turning things off (which also saves the environment) when they are not needed, and trying not to eat as much as we once did.

I didn't want to spend on a piggy bank so what I did was get an empty water bottle, cut out a hold on the side, and that's what I have as my "piggy bank" :) I put all of my coins there. I plan to fill it up and fill another bottle up and exchange it for bills in a store that my friend owns because she's always in need of coins :) Thanks for the response on my discussion!

That's good to hear Ajithal, saving money these days are beneficial. Since cutting some grocery items to save money, i also do save money by participating to every possible website that pays good amount of money. I also try to save money by turning off appliances and lights that are not in use. And this saves us electricity bills. About the savings i got online, i gather them little by little and when it is big enough i will withdraw it on my paypal account. Mylot has given me an opportunity to earn money and i thanked this site to receive a payment from them and i will still continue my stay here and try my best to participate to their task too. Recently one of the task i joined got approved and it added to my earnings. Happy Mylotting!

I am also trying to participate in various discussions as far as I can because it helps me to earn additional money. I think it is a good idea to turn off lights and appliances when we do not use them.

I have a pot for pennies and a pot for silver coins, up to 50 pence pieces. So, yes, I save quite a few coins. Sometimes, I'll take them to the pub and change them, as the landlord appreciates the change now the Post Office has closed. Other times, especially with the coppers, I'll bag them up, take them to the bank, and deposit them in my bank account. They soon mount up! Brightest Blessings my friend.

I am trying to stretch what i make, that is instead of going out and spending what I make, I will put some in the bank and that bank interest means that I will make that amount. It is no good putting the money into a piggy bank or a jar. It is sort of like putting it in a mattress. The money may be worth less. Even if you gain two percent in the bank, you still will make a bit at the end and when you consider that you usually pay more if you had just kept the money in the jar instead of investing it, it makes sense to save up through an interest bearing account.

When we we were children we used to put it big jars. I think bank account is better because it gives interest also.

In fact I have saved money since I was a child. We were taught to save money and don't spend more than we have. As you don't know what will happen tomorrow. It is always better to have money. I love China

It is a good habit taught to save money for the future. I am also taught to save money when I was young. I want to save money for the next six months to buy some things. I hope I can buy it with the money saved.

I save money in two ways. I do save my pennies in an actual piggy bank, but I also participate in a program in my bank where everytime I use my atm, my bank rounds it up to the nearest dollar and puts the change in my savings account. I have had the account for about a month and already I have saved $20. Not too bad.

I am saving by not using the car unless I am going to work. I walk everywhere else now. My hours have dropped at work so unless I am going there I don't use it. It sits outside my home for days on end recently Now that I am at home more I buy nothing readymade. I prepare absolutely everything as I have a lot more time to do so.

I try to save money whenever I could, like right now. Classes are off, so I get my Php450-a-week [that's $11 or less] allowance. If I don't have to leave I keep it all in a piggy bank. When I'm commuting around the city, I use the train. And I don't eat unless I'm really hungry. Prices in the city are a little steep, so I also try to bring my own food wherever I go.

It is always great to bring food from home rather than buying at shops when you can because the cost of food on hotels are very high now a days.

In current terms (and by the definition of modern economy), putting rupees into a jar is counter productive. Your rupee (or my pound or an American's cent) is a coin of very uncertain value. It is made of metal ("which moth and rust do not decay") but today it may buy you some rice and milk, tomorrow it may buy you only one chili pepper! Economy is not about having money, it is about spending it. The current crisis is really all about people saying they would spend more than they actually had to spend - and their creditors getting panicky and selling debts on as assets. Because, all of a sudden, it was realised that the money wasn't moving as fast as it was supposed to, the economy went into constipation mode. In England we have a saying, "Look after the pence and the pounds will look after themselves". That means, of course, that you should be careful to buy what you need at a price you can afford. The economy requires a flow of money. That means that people should spend, not save. Of course it's prudent to save something: that is the way that our personal economy works so that there is always a constant flow of money and no dry dams upriver. I know that current interest rates are low but your jar of rupees is more use to you and the economy as a whole spent on things you need and invested safely (for a little interest) in a bank or savings account for others to borrow.

well, i believe that money makes money. and for that it is too important to have some saving. that is the way, we can increase our money. it is like just put a seed under a soil and it will be a plant and a plant will give you much more seeds and those seeds when will distribute will be huge... it is good to be smart in the way of how to save and how to invest money in the life...

I also think that money when saved and invested wisely is good. I hope to get a good money seed in the so that I can have a plant that makes money. I also think that like a seed in the soil as ou said most probably that becomes big tree savings will become huge amount. Small drops makes a big rain. Small coins makes a big note.
