So think back to your school days, whether it be elementary school, high school, college or university. When you think back to all the projects you did during your school life, which one stands out the most? Did you get a good mark? What did you have to do to complete it? The project that sticks out in my head the most is my project on pioneers completed in around grade 3. I remember really enjoying what life was like back then and putting together a project discussing the lifestyle during those days.

I'm thinking it would have to be high school home economics. We were studying family and parenting. We planned a wedding from start to finish. Everyone in the class had to participate in the wedding in some way. We had to have a bride and a groom, pianist, solosits, bridesmaids and groomsmen, a minister, ushers and candelelighters for the ceremony. Then people to serve at the reception and make the punch, cake etc.. It was really alot of fun. I played the piano, but I was also in charge of all the food at the reception. Planning the menu and getting the food cooked and ready to serve.

Well the two that stand out for me were my research for my masters and Ph.D. in physics which I did extension lab experiments for and wrote a thesis and dissertaiong for respectively and gave an oral defense of the dissertation for the Ph.D. But going back farther then that and to more ordinary ones, I would say a science project on spiders in high school. I don't remember what my grade was but I do remember that my English teacher freaked out when she found out that I was carrying a live black widow spider around in a plastic case in my pocket.

High School, for me, was only 4 years ago. I remember my senoir project, it's a project you are suppose to work on all four years of high school, each year adding something new. For some us though, we decided to do all of our project in one school year. I was scheduled to go into the US Navy two weeks after graduation so I did my project on the evulation of the Aircraft Carrier of the US Navy. Starting with the first carrier the Langley and even including the George W. Bush, which is currently the most recently active carrier. It was the best and most life altering project I have ever done. To get the full aspect of the duties and life style of sailors assigned to the carrier I was privaliged with tours of two active duty aircraft carriers. It was the best experience of my life so far (other then my son). I was given an A+ on my project and I was given the comfort of knowing that if one of my class mates (the only other person to do a project on the miltary) had done his project after me he would have received a lower grade. He had gotten at B- and after I presented my project the grading teacher told me that with the information I had and time I put into my project, his was no where near as well put together as mine. Great discussion topic, there are few things people remember from school in terms of projects they have done. I am waiting for the day that I can help my son and two step sons on projects.

There is a project i rmember doing, but not in a good way. I had to read the book Walden Pond by Thoreu (I think that's how you spell it. I really did not enjoy this book at all. It wasn't long, but it was just way to descriptive for me. Well the project that i had to do for this book, was that I had to make a model of the log cabin that he described in great detail in the book. I waited almost until the last minute and then I was scurrying around looking for supplies. This project made me like the book even less. But the good news is that I got an A for the project and report. I was so glad to be done with it.

In elementary school- I do not remember which year- We had a project to create a playground. The idea was to create what we would consider the "ideal playground". The reason for this assignment was because they were getting a new playground for the school, and the best idea would be the schools design. I did not get the top design, but a friend of mine did! So it was very exciting.

I remember making a Christmas ornament from one of those small milk cartons they drink from in school. We covered with with paper, just construction, and then put cotton balls around the bottom for a snow effect and threw some glitter on it. I have no idea what grade I was in at the time but I know my mom had it on our tree every year. I had kept it up until about 2 years ago when I lost a bunch of stuff while keeping it in a friends garage.
