Do you have nicknames for your dog?  

My German Shepherd's name is Kelly, but I often call her other nicknames here and there. When she's sleeping, I sometimes call her Peanut. The Peanut nickname goes back to when she was a puppy and real little, the way she curled up into things she looked like a peanut lying in a shell lol. Of course it doesn't really fit her now, she weighs in at around 75-100#. She's the same way as yours, as long as the name you're calling her is given during attention and love, she doesn't care and still will do as she's being told to do. I don't know, but I don't think it's all that confusing to them because there is the basis of 'love' & 'master' still behind it all.

I have a couple of nicknames for my dog. When we first got him we named him Benjamin and hes a little cockapoo weighing about 11 pounds now. We seem to call him Benj, Benji, Pookie, Pook and he comes to all of them, i think maybe because he knows are voice really good. He also listens to are voice because when we get mad and want him to come in and we have a mean tone to our voice he knows to get in the house now so he doesn't get a spaken.

My in laws have a sharpay and he thinks e is a little dog but hes a really big dog and he wants all the attention and to lay on you. Hes not so tiny to be laying on you. His name is wrangler, but they also call there dog Pookie. Its funny how we give our dogs the same name.

I don't think it's confusing to them. Like was said above, it's more about the tone than the actual word. My Akita is named Keyser Soze. I usually just call him Keyser, but I also call him Mr. Soze, Kaidor and Dog. I figured calling him Dog was easier on my toddler who has a speech disorder. I have no clue where Kaidor came from. My dad calls him Bernard...again, no clue where that came from. But, Keyser comes to all the names. Heck, I could probably call him Toad and he'd come! (He thinks he's a lap dog too...at 95 lbs!)

When I was a kid we had 2 dogs. The first was Persiverance because my parents said that my brother showed this trait in going after getting a dog. He wanted a dog so bad and nagged and nagged about it. And looked up adds in the paper... taped the adds on the fridge. Haha. Anyhow, it was kind of weird to go around calling a dog that long name. So we just called her 'Percy'. The second dog we had was Von Spiken Burg. Okay, so we just picked him up at the local farm supply store one day. And he was part German Shepherd and part Rottweillar. And my dad was like, those are both German dogs so he needs a German sounding name. And, he came up with that one which made us kids laugh and claim it. But, we always called him Spike. Spike is actually still alive now. He is living with my brother and his girlfriend and her dog 'Benny' Haha. Anyhow. I don't really have a dog living with me at this time.

My dogs name is Ike, sometimes I find myself calling him "honey", "Mr Stinky" or closest nickname to the real thing is when I call him "Mr Ike". I really don't think he cares what we call him, he's spoiled and he knows it!

I call him booger a lot... mr. snorts (he sounds like a pig sometimes i swear! but its funny) sab, sabergater, pretty boy..

those are all names i call him..sometimes i call him stupid too lol
i don't think it's confusing too much if it is any... i think once the dog knows its name it's fine to give them nicknames as well..

I don't think dogs get confused by their pet names at all. I have 2 adopted dogs, one whose name is Julio and one named Chica. Julio resembles a doberman and Chica a rottie. I call Julio, who, who who, big boy and the whoster. Chica comes to cheeks and blondie (for obvious reasons, she's not real bright. But they both come running to whatever I call them with their little nubs just a wagging!

I think everyone has some kind of nickname or way of getting their dogs attention, wheather it be a word or sound. My dogs name is Marley. After I think about it I often call him Mar, but but besides that I mostly refer to him as Marley. My girlfriend on the other hand has too many name to even list for my dog. Everything from Marley to Moo Moos to Pup Pups. Some of the name she comes up with dont even make sense. Do you know anyone who makes up srange nicknames for their pets?

i have 2 cats..lulu and kate,I pick lulu in a rainning day..hehe .they are female.when lulu is sleeing ,she will make some voice..lu//lu/..so i called hei lulu ,kate so graceful like pricess,i ive hei a pricess name..

My favorite dog died a couple years ago. his name is leng chai it 's a chinese name. we call him doggy. he only know himself as doggy. he won't look at you or recognize it when you call him by his real name.

he's our first dog so doggy is more like the normal call-name for people that's new with dogs, i think..
