We all know about Phelps' amazing 8 gold Olympic medals. We also know about the picture of him smoking a bong. Do you think this irreparably tarnishes his role model image, or is there still time to redeem himself?

looks like a set up for me, har har har just my opinion. Phelps is very popular and i dontthink that it was an intetion to smoke bong on public eye. so for me it was more of a set up than just him really smoking pot. but what is done is done, i just hope he can still redeem hiself. there are a lot of popular people who did something like that but could not redeem himself anymore.

I don't think smoking pot is that bad personally. I'm sure a lot of famous people have done it. He probably doesn't even do it that often though because I'd imagine for swimming you'd need powerful lungs and smoking probably doesn't help.

There is always time to redeem oneself of wrongs. This particular wrong is a social creation, most people I know, have a positive feeling towards that act. Whether it was wrong to do, was a matter of opinion. And regardless of ones opinions on the action, it was once. If it stays once there is no reason why we can't say, well, Mr. Phelps made a mistake, but it was just the once, no is perfect after all.
