Burning all the VHS movies we love.

Today after having a DVD recorder for 3 years now, we have just figured out how to record vhs onto DVD. We had the machine working don't get me wrong but today was all about the VHS collection. We have over 400 VHS movies together since my boyfriend and I have moved in together. We finally sorted through the movies we wanted to keep down to 100 of them. Lots of them were duplicates but we made our piles and then offered the ones we did not like for free in sets of 10 on a free cycle site for our city. The ones we wanted to keep are in a huge tote and we think we are slowly going to go through them and burn them to DVD, then donate them again once we have a pile of 10. It was hard work and will be hard work for the next few weeks but we have some time and it needed to be done before we moved. What do you do with your older movies? Sometimes it is hard for me to get rid of the physical memory of things. I have kept so many movies just because I want to be able to see it again.

I went through and whittled down my movie collection a few years ago, getting rid of a few dvds and a lot of videos. But now I regret it as many of the films I let go I would love to watch again even if they are on video. So I've now made the decision that I am no longer going to whittle down my collection and let it build up again. If I get duplicates where I get a dvd of a film which I already own on video I will donate the video to a charity shop otherwise I will just keep them all.

I have a drawer FULL of VHS movies. In my household, we don't really "do" anything with them - except continue to watch them like we normally would had DVDs not come out & blown up as hugely as they did across the world. I actually really LOVE VHS's. They're so reliable, wouldn't you say? You never have to worry about scratching them or having them not work. We have at least 15 old VHS movies that I just can't bare to get rid of. This is a great idea, and I wish we had a DVD burner here! It's great that you're donating them.

I think that vhs's are more realiable than dvdv's myself. I had a friend who burned all of their vhs's onto dvd's and they started messin' up. Couldn't watch'em. But, them again, maybe they used cheap dvd's.

I have had movies on tape, but slowley I started to record over them. I kinda use them as a dvr type deal.
