When an ancient writing is researched they have something called manuscript authority that they look at. For many old texts the originals no longer exist and so people must rely on the number of manuscripts that are exactly the same to determine the authenticity of the writing. In other words all the scripts are identical, not one jot or tittle different if you will. They will also look at the dates between the original the supporting manuscripts what they have found with the bible is truly astounding. There are over 24,000 manuscripts and further more they date to the times of the apostles and Christ. This is what some have had to say about the evidence:
"After trying to shatter the historicity and validity of the Scripture, I came to the conclusion that they are historically trustworthy. If one discards the Bible as being unreliable, he must then also disregard every other piece of literature from antiquity." (Josh McDowell)
"Luke is a historian of the first rank; not merely are his statements of fact trustworthy, he is possessed of the true historic sense...in short, this author should be placed along with the greatest of historians." (Sir William Ramsey, famous historian and archaeologist, who set out to refute the historical accuracy of the Bible, in particular Acts (written by Dr. Luke, the Apostle Paul’s travelling companion). His findings compelled him to a COMPLETE REVERSAL of his beliefs due to the overwhelming evidence uncovered in his research).
To date the text that comes in second as far as manuscript authority is concerned is Homer's the Illiad with 643 scripts that survive.
With this authenticity measure, what do you think of the New Testament?

Josh Mcdowell is a questionable source for evidence concerning the authenticity of the Bible. He starts with the assumption that the Bible is accurate and then bends the evidence to support his case. For a discussion of his supposed evidence please refer to:

I am not discussing his evidence, I am talking about the 24,000 manuscripts they have found that date to the time of the people writing them and are all saying the same thing. The New Testament has more backing than 37 of Shakespears plays and they were written a mere 300 years ago. You have to remember too that the two people that I quoted set out to prove that the bible was not accurate and had to reverse their opinions. I will look at your link to be fair, and let you know what I think. Thank you for your response and respectful attitude!
