It's time that there were regular maritime patrols of the area to intercept and destroy any boat that is attempting to attack a merchant vessel. The solution to attacks on isolated merchant ships is to introduce a compulsory convoy system and sea lane. That will allow naval ships to concentrate on a small area and be proactive in countering the Somali pirates rather than reacting to a situation after the event.

It is easier to say than done, without fully armed heavy weaponry on merchant ships, there is no way anyone of them is able to fend off these African high sea bandits. It is time for the world to finish them all once and for all, any country provide safe haven to these pirates should be wipe off the earth.
