Lately I have been hearing (or I should say reading)about the wonderful benefits of coconut oil. Even though it is a saturated fat, it is suppose to be healthy for you and even promote weight loss. Has anyone had any experience with this product and if so please share. Do you believe it is the healthy fat that is claimed?

Personally, I hate coconut. I can't stand the smell of it, and I can't stand the taste of it. I just can't stand anything coconut! Even lotions and lip balms! Even if it were to have these great benefits, I don't think I could stomach it!

Hi lumen. I really don't know if it is healthy or not. Coconut is wonderful for health I know this and years ago people cooked with vegetable fat of coconut and none got sick. I use ever soy oil because it is healthy and have a good price. I really never follow the mode of healthy things because it change every time. Each time they say one different thing and we get lost. Because of it I use what I know for experience that is good. In these bad times we need to save money so why pay more for one thing if we can have a good thing for less. If you want to lose weight and keep good health drink green tea every day. I do this and I can say it work. Have a good day.

I do love green tea and use to brink it a lot more than I have been lately. I do need to start back because it would be great if it helps me lose weight but it also helps with my soda cravings.

I love coconut oil. It is great to use to fry eggs with, especially with purple friend onions. Coconut onion gets rid of viruses and good for dry skin. Good for the thyroid too and to help increase your energy level. Keeps the flu away too. I understand it is also good to combat HIV.

I actaully did fry eggs with it a couple of times and yes, it was very good. My finicky daughter said they were the best eggs she had ever tasted. I find it hard to keep a supply because it is costly but if it really has the health benefits then I'll have to sacrifice to try and keep some around.

I haven't tried coconut oil, but it has been recommended to me several times, as it is supposed to help with an underactive thyroid. Even a teaspoon a day, apparently, is supposed to aid in weight loss and in ridding someone of hypothyroid like symptoms. To be honest, I find it works well just to eat a balanced diet and stay active, so I haven't felt a need to try the coconut oil, but if used in moderation, I would imagine it might be a semi-healthy addition to a person's diet.

I must admit I have tried it because it was first recommended to me for fibromyalgia. I can't say if it really has helped or not because I was not able to keep up the regimen for very long. I have been considering starting back when I get a bit more money. The weight loss portion would be an added benefit if it worked.
