Back in Saskat, but moving in June............. |
|
It's official. I'm moving. We finally put our house on the market and an offer to purchase on a house one province over from where we are living now. I'll be less than a day's drive away from my best friend and my family. So I'm over the moon, and will only drop back to earth if our home here doesn't sell. So wanna buy a house? Please! It's really cute and priced right, I swear! I need to get a few projects (like the fence) finished, but trust me, I'll get it done! LOL I've been so busy getting all this organized, and then the road trip to Manitoba, and home again I scared the hell out myself when I finally got back on the computer and opened my inbox. LOL It will take me days to sort through all the emails, so to those of you who have answered my discussions, my apologies for the delay in getting back to you. To those of you who have posted new ones, I'll get to them asap. Would you move in this economy?

2. tamarafireheart (12471) | 8 months ago | Hi sparky,
Welcome back, I've missed you! did you find a nice house to your liking? and did you have a fantastiic time on your road trip? I bet you did. Sometimes it is a good idea to move in times like this, it could turn out the best to do as my friend did, she even had extra money to go abroad on holiday. I wish you luck on the sale of your house. Glad you are back. Love and hugs.

sparkofinsanity (3446) | 8 months ago | Hi sweetheart........I missed you all too. The road trip was such a lovely change and the house isn't bad, but give me a few weeks with it and I'll turn it into a real showplace. I love the town it's in, and it has the perfect shop for my hubs reno business so I can't complain if he's happy. I'm looking forward to the move now, so fingers crossed our offer is accepted and our house here sells quickly.

6. dawnald (9499) | 8 months ago | Hey, look who is back!!!
In this economy, assuming I could sell my house, and assuming somebody else would do the packing and unpacking, maybe. Lower taxes!!!
I'd love to buy your house but it kind of snows up there. Maybe I can send somebody with thicker blood?
But I really, really hope it works out for you!

sparkofinsanity (3446) | 8 months ago | Snow? What snow? Do you see snow in that pic...........and I swear I took it today! Ok, I didn't, but it was worth a try! LOL And hey, yeah........thicker blood really is a necessity up here. ROFL

Barb42 (2704) | 8 months ago | I forgot to say, "No, I would not move in this economy." Nobody would buy our house with the mess next door anyway, expecting to see a Bingo Hall going up any day. BUT, thank the Lord, ADEM finally notified us that they are after the company that didn't put up the silk screens before doing the excavating, and they have 30 days to answer the charge! So maybe we can get our front yard back in shape. Otherwise, it will be mid summer or later before we can mow half our lawn - it's a soup hole!

sparkofinsanity (3446) | 8 months ago | Hey sweets.........I've just been really busy offline. Finally got the hubs to commit to moving to an area where I can have a life too, so no worries. I'm glad you gave me an update on your situation. I've been wondering...........let me know how it all turns out. Will pm you with my email....

Barb42 (2704) | 8 months ago | I'm glad you got your husband to see it your way!
As for the Bingo Hall, the governor is trying to get it stopped. He has an investgation going on. Also the Alabama Coalition (Randy Owens of ALABAMA fame is the one backing it, along with George Jones and Lori Morgan and a few other singers) had 9 counties in AL they were trying to get legalized gambling in - it will be on the next ballot. Someone got two of the counties taken off AND the county next to us was one of them, thank the Lord. So, if it goes through, then they would taken off the gambling map and this one would never be built! I just wish they'd work with the laws already on the books and gambling would never have become a problem - it's illegal here.
| |
|
|
sparkofinsanity (3446) | 8 months ago | Seems nothing's illegal where money's involved eh? LOL Will keep my fingers crossed for ya.
| |
|
|
Barb42 (2704) | 8 months ago | Sparks, you hit the nail on the head!! And the money isn't really going to the parties they say, either. Most of the so-called "charities" know absolutely nothing about it. Some have even spoken up and said they never even put their names in the pot after they found the list had theirs on there.

sparkofinsanity (3446) | 8 months ago | Poor dog didn't get to come on the trip.............but she stayed in her dog run for the neighbour who looked after her while I was gone, and that was a good thing. lol We're going to make out like bandits on our house because we picked it up for a steal of a deal, and are working another steal of a deal on our new one. It's the perfect time for US to sell and buy right now which is lucky for us. And Spunky will be able to make new friends!

10. mentalward (4214) | 8 months ago | Moving anytime is a scary scenario, but especially with the economy the way it is now. We just moved in 2007 and now have 28 more years to pay $1,700.00/month, well, until the insurance and taxes go up; then we'll have to pay even more.
With my husband losing his job in December and not getting another one until just this month, I can tell you we were both plenty scared! My husband has the physical stamina required to move, but I don't. The move HERE almost killed me!
I would worry about our house selling. I think that would be my major concern. I've seen so many houses up for sale recently and, sadly, seen a few evictions (furniture, clothing, etc. piled up on the sidewalk/curb). I've heard that housing foreclosures are at an all-time high and know all too well how easy it would be to lose our own home.
I own another house and land in southern Virginia and have been wanting to put it on the market but I know I won't get anywhere near what it's worth if it were to sell right now. People are scared and are hanging onto their money or, what's left of it since the price of everything has gone up and gasoline prices are on the rise again.
But, if you feel confident enough that you'll have the money to pay a mortgage for however long you take a mortgage out for, go for it!
I just read an article about our President Obama urging people to refinance their homes in order to bring down the monthly payments and, of course, to stimulate the economy. In our case, refinancing wouldn't help since we've only had the house jut under two years and there's very little equity built up in it. What equity there is would be eaten up by the refinancing fees.
I wish you much luck in your move! I hope you can sell your house quickly and the move to the next province goes smoothly and easily.
Don't let your inbox scare you! That's the least of your worries right now. I know what moving takes, especially when it's not right next-door! We moved about 110 miles west of where we were living and it was a nightmare! Well, okay, it was a nightmare because I was moving my mother's things out of her apartment and bringing them here at the same time that we were moving. Her apartment was also over 100 miles away. Your move should be easier than mine was.
Just remember to LABEL everything! I still have boxes in the basement that are piled up and I have no idea what they contain! Apparently, it's nothing I absolutely NEED because I seem to have found everything of mine, so all those boxes are most likely things my mother and stepfather had... tons of photographs and boxes and boxes of files.
I'm sure we'll all forgive you for not getting back to us right away, so don't worry about that. You have something way more important to do!
One thing I found VERY helpful... if you can get volunteers to help you, by all means, DO!
Good luck!!!

sparkofinsanity (3446) | 8 months ago | Wowza, things are bad in the U.S. I do so feel for you. Here, we are barely feeling the 'recession'. In Manitoba, where I'll be moving, everyone we talked to just laughed at us when we talked about the down turn in the economy. I guess our rural areas (over 2/3rds of the country) just aren't feeling it and it's business as usual.... I've moved on my own so many times, I can do it in my sleep. We pared down sooooo much when we moved here, that this move will be a breeze because I've put my foot down and told the hubs that we are hiring movers for this one, using a proper truck and proper packing for the furniture. I can do all the sorting and packing myself, and actually prefer to. I still have box labels left over from the last move. We are currently living mortgage free and will be mortgage free on the next house too, so financing is not a worry. I'll keep you posted..........
