Huge bite by a mosquito!!

Today it is a lot warmer, finally get to go out outside to play with my puppy, gardening and stuff. I was sitting outside to enjoy the sun for a while, then I got bite by a annoying mosquito and the spot is getting bigger and bigger!! (As you can see from the pic) I have the thing that prevent the mosquito but I didn't light it, thought it isn't the time for them yet but obviously, they started working and looking for some food! Sometimes when I get biten by mosquito like that, I worry a little bit if they are harmful and will birng me some desease. Most of the time, I use my fingernails to make a cross on the spot, I feel less itchy, I forgot who told me that but it seems everybody does that too, I wonder whyit can stop the itch! When was the last time you get biten like that? Have you ever got problem by getting biten by mosquitoes? How did you do with it?
