|  Only the US military would allow a small life boat with 4 pirates in it and 1 hostage sit and make fools out of them. You’re not telling me there is no way to get this pilot away from these 4 men. Now they are going to sit and watch while another pirate ship comes in and picks up the 4 pirates and the Pilot and take them away.
I sure hope the US soil is never invaded. If it is these idiots will “sit and think about it” until the invaders have control of the whole country. Obama won’t even talk about this situation on camera. I think he is just sitting and hoping it will go away. If this is any example of how Obama is planning on running this country we are in deep do do. Now is the time to send a very strong message to this band of pirates that they will think about before they mess with another ship that is sailing under the American Flag.

| |  Unfortunately the US is not the only country who would let them do it the British Navy would probably have to let them do the same for fear of hurting the pirates. Seems like the US Navy and British are not allowed to do what everyone thinks they should and use force to teach the pirates a lesson. Until force is effectively used the pirates will keep doing what they are doing.
I believe the French and Indians have had success using force, whilst the british were forced to release some Somali pirates back to Somali after they were captured.

| | You make shark food out of a few of these pirates they might rethink their business. They are not in US waters or on US soil so they have no protection from our courts or anything else. 4 good sharp shooters could take care of the 4 pirates in the life boat in very short order. Also they just said the Navy Seals are on the hijacked ship that is headed to port without it's pilot. Why are the Seals not there dissolving this situation like they are trained to do?

| | There are several ways to handle this. That pilot couldn't get in a much more serious situation even if he tried. There is a gun pointing at him that can have the trigger pulled at any moment. There is no fool proof plan. If that's what they are looking for they won't find it. They are risking the life of the hostage more and more every minute they sit on their hands and do nothing.

| | Well first of all I would never put a crew on a ship in that area that wasn't armed to the teeth. Also I would never cast off without a heavily armed guard that did nothing but kill anyone that tried to board it at sea. That would be their only job. With the situation with the 4 pirates in the life boat with the 1 hostage. There is only one way to free this hostage and that is to kill the 4 pirates that have him. Di it quick and all 4 at one time where they couldn't shoot the hostage. This indicates there should be some snipers on the job taking care of this. That is exactly what I would do.

I agree that this is truly pathetic. The thing that pissed me off the most was when this guy bravely jumped out of the boat and swam towards the US ships, and then had to return to the lifeboat when the pirates fired on him. The moment he jumped out the US ships should have opened fire on the pirates. Instead, his escape attempt was wasted and now he's tied up.
Oh well, I'm sure Obama will solve our pirate problem by refusing to call them pirates. They'll probably be renamed as "disadvantaged undocumented sailors" or some such crap. After all, this wasn't a pirate attack, it was a man caused disaster and we need an overseas contingency plan to deal with it. He'll vernacular the crap out of our enemies until they can stand no more! | | | | | | |

| | I agree with you. The way I see it when their feet left their own boasts their rights ended right there. From that point on they are fair game and need to be killed and dumped into the sea. Make a video of it and then show it to the world as a warning to anyone that wants to board another US ship on the high seas. That's the only thing these people will ever understand.
