That book is just to big, and well there are so many versions which ones to believe. Who to believe. Okay. First I guess, Where does it describe what hell is? Where does it tell us what happens when we die? Where does it tell was that we go to heaven if we are good, and to hell if we are bad? Any version, in fact many versions and comparisons would be good. And for you wonderful scorners of Religion, have fun with this one.

You can use http://www.biblegateway.com/ for searching specific keywords in the bible 'Hell' is a word that was added to our Bibles and is not a translation of the original language the bible uses the following words Sheol Hades Translated as grave 1st Corinthians 15:55 Translated as hell Matthew 11:23 Matthew 16:18 Luke 10:15 Luke 16:23 Gehenna Translated as hell Matthew 5:22-29-30 Matthew 10:28 Matthew 18:9 sheoul is a hebrew word meaning a hollow place which can also be called as grave hades is a greek which word means the unseen and refers to the grave Gehenna is a greek word meaning a valley which also refers to the grave Thus hell is not eternal damnation but a period spent in the grave have a gr8 time Njoy

YEAH Mathss! Also in Gehenna was a trash dump. They would keep a fire going at all times to try and keep the smell down. Jesus was saying that the wicked would be thrown into a trash heap, where the "worm" (maggot) dieth not, not meaning that maggots live forever, bu meaning no matter what there were always maggots at Gehenna. For a Jew, this was a visualization they couldn't take very well, as it was the ipitomy of being unclean.

We are all travelers in this physical realm. Some people don't use maps because they just follow the sun or their instincts or whatever, but sometimes a map is very useful. Not that I would try to use a 2000 year old map to get me to, say, San Francisco though. I prefer a GPS system actually. However, if it was an old old treasure map I might ditz around with it for awhile and try to decipher the secret code, just for the adventure. Nor do I believe that heaven and hell are specific locations created for rewards and penalties. I believe they are metaphors pointing to states of mind. Joy is the state of mind that would probably be the equivalent of heaven, and surely fear refers to hell! Personally, I know what Joy and Ecstasy feel like. And I have learned to recognize fear... no matter the costume it might currently be wearing. Therefore, I choose Love, and when there seems to be an absence of Love, I go deeper and broader and change my perspective, because I have come to know that that perspective will always be there... just sort of abiding, like a candle in the window. Love, Joy, Passion, Knowledge; the feeling of well-being, of enthusiasm and eagerness for the new day, this is what I seek in Life, like a satellite dish searching for it's signal, I have locked onto it and will channel the energy. Therefore I don't read newspapers. I don't watch the news on TV. I don't follow politics or religion. I am VERY picky about how I feel. Anything that doesn't make me feel good does not warrant my attention, other than as an indication that this thought or activity has moved me off my signal.... "Please return to the highlighted route, please return to the highlighted route!" Hehehehehe. I bid you adieu, and may your Journey be delightful, joyous, and free... that's my motto anyway.

Don't quote me on it as I haven't checked my bible but I think there is reference to hell in the book of revelations.
