I responded not long ago ona discussion started 3 years ago. There were almost 900 responses.
If you got to your profile 'discussions I've started' and go back through all the pages you will see yours too.
Some of the older discussions are still alive in the column on the right too
similar discussions -----
and when you have a discussion open you see them.

Ehehe no idea
You can see how many discussions have been created by looking at the number in your browser. This one is # 11,213,129. Even if half have been deleted that still leaves a lot out there waiting for responses

That is a very good question. I can only make an out of this world guess that they are probably putting it in a repository or storage of some sort or eventually delete after a certain period. I guess it would cost them more if they will keep those information forever.

Old discussions live forever as long as they do not contain violations.

Of course they don't have any violations.

I do not think they get deleted. My reason for this is because just recently I had a couple of old discussions from 3 years ago reappear.

I used to think they have to delete old discussions to avoid running out of space
and memory
but I've seen old discussions here resurfaced so porbably they deleted a few but not all
only I'm not sure how they decide which old discussions should be deleted or which ones can stay
unless they want to keep buying memory, they have to find a way to provide space for more discussions in the future

I think all the discussion are kept, especially if they have a lot of responses, as MyLot is like a big encyclopeadia of knowledge shared by every day people.
3 years? Wow! I'm coming up for 2 years, and I have to say, have much catching up to do on starting my own discussions, but am still having fun responding to them too. Even if they were created a little while a go

I have responded to a number of discussions that are about three years old, and that are still present on Mylot. The only ones that get deleted are the ones that violate the terms of services, as far as I know.

I've been here three years too, my friend, and as far as I can see, every one of my discussions is intact. They seem to go into an archive but don't ever seem to be deleted. I wonder sometimes what use they are to Mylot or other Internet users but I can't think why they would want to keep them forever.
Brightest Blessings.

I think they have most of them. I have gone back as far as I could and still had not reached the beginning usually going onto the profiles, and then checking all their discussions to see how many pages. I have not done that on the todays' top, etc. I would not have the time. So I suppose if someone has the time to go through they are welcome to do so.
I am too busy doing other things.

I know about a discussion which is more than 2 years old and still running. I mean people are giving away responses to those. I think mylot deletes only those discussion which authors are not active for an year or so.
That can only be a reason why we can see our 2-3 years old discussin in our profile page.

As you can see, four years has been passed yet I am still being able to respond on your discussion.
All of discussions, except some which violate the guidelines, will stay on server and always available to be furthered on. They don't even place it on the "archive", unlike what big forum usually do..

thats something even i have pondered on, i sure have made alot of discussions and i think they just remain in our folder.it would have been nice if we had been notified of the discussions that were being deleted.
