spend money on baby clothes

Does she know how many baby clothes she could by with $100 if she didn;t worry about name brands. About half of my son's clothes are gently worn and used that I received from family and friends. She needs to invest that money into his future or it can b used for something he can really use like diapers,wipes, or formula.

My DD will be 1 year old next month. I have never spent a lot of money on her clothes. She's growing so fast that she wears an outfit once, maybe twice and if we're lucky and we bought it too big, she wears it a 3rd time before she can't wear it anymore. I did spend money on a good stroller as I jog a lot and wanted a durable one. I also spent a good bit of money on a convertible baby seat for her to put in my car. I wanted one that would keep her safe but can also be used for more than a month and a half before she outgrew her newborn seat.

No, you are not crazy. If her baby were truly getting his mother's best, she would not be trying to love him with money, but would give him time and attention. He is not a doll to be dressed up but is a living breathing human being.

I am a bargain shopper. I watch everything closely. I can get a pair of very expensive jeans for my kids for sometimes $1.99. I shop clearance racks, Gabes, & Goodwill. Second hand shops are just as good as regular stores. Sometimes you canfind clothing in them with tags still on them. I have done that many times. I got my daughter an authentic steeler jersey for $1.99. I have also got other designer items with tags on them at second hand stores. I am all about the savings. You have to be anymore with the economy. I have 2 daughters to clothe.

If I had the money to waste like that... I still wouldn't. My stroller cost ten bucks and the clothes are all bought on clearance or sale.

I guess it's because I've gone with out most of my life. I can provide more for my kids if I shop wisely.

As for throwing out anything.... never. If it is still usable, I will find it a home.

Apparently she thinks giving her son the best, means material things. No, you're not crazy. Everyone always says they want better for thier kids, but they don't always understand what that means. So they go out and buy the name brand clothes, name brand everything because it's something they didn't have when they were a kid, or it's something the were spoiled with as they grew up and don't understand that off brands are cheaper, and are just as good. With a growing baby, it's pretty sad on how much money she's wasting because they grow so fast and won't get to wear most of those clothes much more than once, if that. My son's clothes was bought yard sale, hand me down, or discount stores and still are. My little girl's clothes, have come from a friend, who has 3 little girls so her wardrobe is filled for the next two years, lol... if not more.
I think for her to see that she's spending alot of money on things that aren't that important to a baby, she needs to write down everything she buys, prices and everything. Maybe that might turn on a light bulb that she could get more for her money else where.
I am a very frugal person, and shop off season, so i get my kid's clothes when they need them off season. Buy my winter in the summer, and buy my summer in the winter. It saves alot of money. The stores have to sell inventory, even if they are taking a loss, so I can pick up clothes for 2 and 3 dollars at times.

Hi psychotaz...I just bought three pairs of pjs for our son - $4, $6, and $6. He will grow out of them quickly enough. I can't afford to spend that much money on one piece of clothing for him! But maybe your brother and his girlfriend have the money to spend on such items. We can't. My son is always dressed well and clean. He's taken care of even though he doesn't wear name brands and we look for things on the clearance racks.

I think I would if it were a special occasion. My kids have both name brand and generic clothing, shoes, toys, etc and they dont really know the difference and for the most part they dont care. No one in school tells them there shoes are not Nike or whatever and they dont come home complaining if they dont have on Polo or Fubu, etc. I have a few neighbors who buy name brand shoes for their kids who are like 5 and under and then they complain because they get them dirty...HELLLLLLOOOO they are kids! They are going to get shoes dirty, most adults eventually get their shoes dirty. I HATE when the parents bring their kids out and watch them run around & when they see their kids shoes with dirt they flip....well your the dumb one...in my opinion, no offense to you out there! My kids have everyday shoes and they have dress shoes, just as they have regular clothes and occasion clothes.
As far as the stroller and unwanted items, I sometimes buy something and then see something better so I upgrade but I dont throw things away, they either go to a consignment shop so I can get other things or to goodwill or if I know someone that needs whatever I have I offer it. I rarely just throw things out.

As a mother of 4 kids and expecting our last one in July Im sorry but yes she is crazy I could buy alot of clothes for my upcoming newborn to be with that much money. Kids can have the best without spending $100 just for one shirt, outfit whatever Im sorry but that is ridiscoulus. I make alot of my own clothes and my kids clothes and they turn out really cute shoot with a 100 dollars I could get alot of material you know its kind of funny but my kids are always very well dressed and they look better than alot of these kids that act they have money or whatever, I just think that's nuts.

My son is growing like a little weed and it's all I can do to keep him in walmart and thrift store clothes, so yeah, i think she's crazy!! babies grow too quickly and are too messy to worry about them being perfect and in expensive clothes. all I can say is, if she is throwing them away anyway, suggest she donate them to a thrift store, ect. or she can send them to me, I would be more than happy to take them, and tell your brother to tell her he can't afford her expensive tastes and if she wishes to raise the child this way she'd better start making an income! just my opinion!
