Yesterday I went with my parents to the trade fair in "town". I love those things because you check out the booths, try new things and get free stuff. I came home with a bunch of new pens, pads of paper, a couple highlighters, a comb with a mirror, some debit card holders/protectors and sticky notes. I also came home with some information on loans and grants for metis entrepreneurs.
After the trade fair we went garage saling. We had seen a few signs about them up while driving to the trade fair - its a bit early here for them They dont usually start until may. I got myself an apple peeler (I'm constantly borrowing my moms or my grandmas every fall for peeling my apples for apple crisps and pies in the winter) As well as a set of two brand new shelves for 3.00 (i had seen the set a couple weeks ago at one of the stores for 25 dollars) WITH all the hardware to hang them.
So happy i love free stuff and yard sales! Have you been to any trade fairs or garage sales recently?

Hi saundly! I wish I could have gone with you! We don't
have good Trade Fairs like that here! And if we did they
sure don't give away stuff! I love garage sales too! I always
find some great stuff! They usually don't start here until
at least May or June either! I love to go because you just
never know what you can find! Sometimes it is just people
wanting to get rid of their junk and sometimes you can find
really useful stuff like you found those shelves! I see signs
all around my neighborhood and I always take a walk to see
what they have!

I love going to flea markets and garage sales! I bought a brass Indian Chief head a few weeks ago for $4, it is awesome! I love going and like to buy lots of clothes second hand. You can find so many interesting things too. I love to buy Native American stuff and we found a wooden paddle with 3 Indians rowing a canoe once...we keep adding ;) I love this time of year because that is when they are really out selling.

I love trade fairs. I haven't been to one in a while but they should be starting up again soon its about that time of year.
As for yard sales I LOVE going. Last week on my way home I found a picnic table for my daguhter for 3 bucks! A few weeks ago I found a wok for $3 bucks. That was an awesome deal! I found baby moniters for 10 bucks! Which worked out perfect because I planned on buying them that week for my moms house.
A lot of things in my house were found at yard sales!
Good luck on future finds!!

I like going to trade fairs and picking up the free stuff. We had one a couple of weeks ago and the reusable canvas bags were a really popular give away, I got 3 of them. The only thing that I don't do at trade fairs anymore is enter contests from banks and insurance companies. They constantly phone you once they get your information even when you didn't win anything.

No I haven't. I remember when I used to work in another county that there was a lot of booths set up and free things were being given away with them. I can't remember what all the booths were but I believe one was a bank. We were catering to them, I was a banquet server then. I like to look at things in yard sales as I think it's a great way to find some cheap things that are in good condition. Plus it's recycling in the community, they get a little bit of profit for their old "junk" and we get new treasures, lol.

I like other people's old junk! I have fun fixing some of it up and using it for myself.
This is gonna sound weird but when i was a kid my dad would take me with him to the garbage dump and he'd haul out things like plastic toy couches ...washers dryers...all sorts of wrotiron...and he'd fix em up for us or use them to make gates and fences for the cattle. I admit my family didnt..still doesnt..have a heck of alot of money so it was always kind of fun to go and see what we could find.

where we used to live there are trade fairs... and i always visit them... i love going to those, coz there are so many things to look at. even if i dont have money i still go there, and just look around, i love looking at what's on their booths...
here where we are living now, there's no trade fair. but there are soem that have garage sales.
i love bargains... at garage sales, its where i always get to see things i dont usually find in stores/supermarkets. and they are cheaper too... so right for my pocket... lol

No,I have not gone to any sales yet. In two weeks we will have a big to do here in town, we call it All Schools Day. People have lots of sales then. There is also a book sale of used books I always go to and plants. We have parades and picnics and a general good time. I have to go out of town to trade fairs. Hubby and I have to have matching schedules to go.

Our 'season' for these hasn't started yet. I haven't been to any in three years because I live in the boonies. But after we move in a few weeks (or so) we'll be in a town where there will trade fairs, fairs, and garage sales going on all summer and fall and I can hardly wait to get back to doing one of the things I love best........gathering free stuff and find the treasures in another man's junk! ROFL

garage sales. oh how i envy you right now. i use to love going to garage sales because the things you find and people you meet are just so interesting! since moving to Malaysia i was shocked to find out that there's no such thing as garage sales and people here don't celebrate thanksgiving their kind of odd. apparently Chinese new years the big celebration here and the kings birthday. oh well. cheers love.
