washing dishes

Do you wash your dishes before you put them in the dishwasher? Why do you do that, why not just put them in the drainer if you have already washed them? I rinse mine because I need to make sure I get things out of the corners or the dishwasher will not remove them. We have very hard water here.

No, we do not wash the dishes before we put them in the dishwasher. We do rinse them off though before they do go into the dishwasher when we do use it that is. If I did wash the dishes, they would go in the strainer not the dishwasher. That really makes no sense, they are clean so why bother with that. Waste of water, dishwashing soap, and electricity.

Yes I always rinse a plate well before placing it into a dishwasher. Like you said, a dishwasher does not get rid of all the muck and worse, it can accumulate in the pipes of the dishwasher and end up clogging the machine. Everyone in my household is very strict about doing this and it is just good practice really.
