Did they close the borders to Mexico and cancel the flights to Mexico.Because of the possible of more of the swine flu epidemic coming to more of the United States? If they haven't,do you think that they should?

No, they did not. Anyone traveling out of Mexico, either by bus or plane, is required to have a physical exam before they leave. They are offering the exams at major airports. Some people are required to show up four hours before their flight departs to have the health inspection.

That's good. But,I am wondering if someone got the flu from the cab driver on the way to the airport can it be detected that early? What about the people traveling thru the gates by car or on foot?

I am not sure if they put any restrictions on any other methods of travel. The only thing I have heard about is the medical exam at the airport. My friend's sister just flew in from Mexico and she said they were doing the exams on anyone traveling by plane or bus. She did not tell me any info on other methods of travel.

I think they finally did close the border and the planes going to and from. The swine flu has spread to many states now though.

When there was sars in Asia I don't think any borders were closed. Disease is so unpleasant and swine flu sounds terrible. It would be awful if swine flu spreads to more places in the world like the USA for example. Just imagine being on vacation in Cancun and then the authorities cancel all flight from Mexico to the States. Well that would be upsetting for any American tourist.

closing the border would most likely only reduce it,not stop the flu. all it takes is one multi-national traveller to bring it back in from somewhere else.that's the one thing about modern travelling, things get spread faster and easier than before. they're supposed to check people coming in,but some always get by.

Obama said they hadn't closed the borders and weren't going to because it would be like closing barn door after the horses are out because there are already cases in the U.S.. But I think that is not correct; I think closing the border now or sooner would be like closing the barn door after 5 horses are out but keeping 95 more from getting out.

To me, the swine flu does not sound like a pandemic. I think there is an exageration in the coverage of the media. That tends to create fear. More people die of hunger in this world than of any kind of new illness. More people die of hunger than the people who die of AIDS, of cancer, of heart attacks. Shouldn´t we start stopping that first?
