Songs about dads  

I like Cats in the cradle as well...its a sad song...but its whats actually happening right now. The parents are so busy with their job to even have some time with their children.

Don't walk so fast Daddy by Wayne Newton.Butterfly kisses by Bob I can't remember his last name right now.

I don't know how much this will help because I don't remember the name of the song or of the singer but it's a song about advices a father gives to his son...
"If it's not time to make a change, just relax and take it easy, you're so young, that's not your fault there's so much you have to go through. Find a girl and settle down and if you want to you can marry, look at me I am old but I am happy." I know that there was a cover by a boy band or a member of a boy band but don't remember that either. It's a very sad song.

Then there's a totally funny one. It's called a boy named Sue by Johnny Cash. It talks about this boy whose father decided to name him Sue, and the son really hated this and was really looking to meet the father because he kept a grudge about it. Then they meet and talk about it. Funny.

i am familiar with these songs but i never really connected them to dads. i am not sure about others, but i also like Butterfly Kisses. It is a very emotional song though for me. i am a melancholic, or i mean having a melancholic personality, so such songs stir up strong emotions in me. family is very important for me and has a very special place in my heart. i may not always be in agreement with my parents, but they will always remain my parents and of course, i love them.

i am a mother now, so i have become more emotional about such things. sigh, mothers day is approaching. hehehe and now i am part of them.

My favorite is by Brad Paisley and the title is "The Man He Didn't Have To Be". This is because of my grandson and my son in law, he is the only dad my grandson has ever known.

Butterfly Kisses used to be my favorite. Now, after my paretns divorce, my father completely changed for the worse. We don't even speak after all his horrendous antics and everytime I hear this song I get a bit emotional. I hate Father's Day lol.

I really don't have one but in Jazz circles Horace Silver's Song For My Father is very popular. A lot of people seem to like that song Luther Vandross recorded about wanting to "dance with my father again."
