Can possessiveness and care hinder friendship????????  

I think the reason people doesn't want friends that care too much is because it's somehow invading their space. People should really respect each others' space and that usually starts problems, even between friends. The trick here is to learn to stay away when you're not wanted.

It is true that friends care. That is why people make friends. But most of the people expect that care as per their needs and requirements. Too much care and care on every issue is seen as interference by many people. A balance should be maintained. Also I believe that it is advisable to ask your friend if he or she needs your help. This will maintain friendship for longer.

I sometimes feel that my boundaries are not respected with my friends. I need my own space perhaps more than most people and I can't handle a friend who wants to be in my life all the time. I even hate friends dropping in unannounced! It is a fine balance to have closeness without over stepping the boundaries.
In my opinion a true friend will care and respect those boundaries.
With true friends I would like to think that I can be totally myself warts and all and be loved anyway!

Its good to care for someone you love, someone you like. But its certainly bad to be possessive. I have a very good friend. He cares a lot for me and we have real great time together. Everything was fine until I figured out that he doesn't like me making friends with others. Whenever I try to be close to some other friend, he started speaking bad about that guy. I was puzzled, how could someone be so possessive. But I didn't care for his acts, and now he is OK. I still have him among my friends and other guys as well.
Caring is a must ingredient in any relationship. But just like a pinch of extra salt can ruin the taste of your dish, being too possessive or showing extreme care can harm your relationship.
Do care for someone, but let them live their own life!
