We did it, we got more hamsters |
|
As per my previous discussion pertaining to craziness, I am officially crazy.
We picked up the hamsters today.
2 were already spoken for, and one decided to bite me, so we settled on 5 hamsters to bring home.
They're all settling in quite nicely, but the one that was uprooted from the cage isn't too happy right now.
Now we have 11 hamsters, but who knows how long we'll have them all as some of the older ones are older.
The new ones are so cute, they're mixed Syrian/Pandabears. They're only 5 weeks old, so I know they can live together for a while.

1. book1962 (14728) | 8 months ago | hi kris I only had pet mice so far and no hamsters. Hamsters are cute too and I guess they will live peacefully with the others you already have. It was not nice of that one furry guy to bite you though.

Pigglies (5027) | 8 months ago | Hehe. I know how that is! I mean, I haven't turned down adopting a pet because I got bit (the opposite actually, I got the worst rabbit kick ever from my 14 year old rabbit back when I got him when he was only 4 years old, ripped my thigh open with his nails, took him home anyway).
But I have had adopters come out to look at pets and then they get bit. Once it was this lady who had just really wanted these two guinea pigs I had. And they were always so sweet. But she picked up the one wrong and apparently he was in a bad mood at the moment and not ready to let her learn the correct technique, so he bit her. And needless to say she left without adopting! But she ended up saving 2 lives later and adopted two piggies from another foster home. So all was well in the end.

book1962 (14728) | 8 months ago | hi one of my pet mice bit me too more than once cause she didnt like me but I kept her anyways as long as the other one was alive. When my second pet mouse died my friend I had the mice from offered to take Miss Kleenex in so she has company again and of course I accepted.

Just make sure to separate them by sexes so you don't end up with more. I don't remember how many days it is when you separate hamsters, but I think if they're 5 weeks old they should be separated by sexes by now if you haven't already done so.

but syrians tend to fight when they're adult. that's why syrians must live in solitary cage. though it really depends on their personality.

| delrene (64) | 6 months ago | that's nice:) but if one of your hamster bit another hamster put him/her in another cage. or it might injure the other hamsters badly
