I am just as Miserable as Miserable gets, I thought I was just getting a nasty cold the last couple of days, since all the rain we had here and chilly weather; but Come Saturday things were getting worse for me, with my "eyes"... By Sunday afternoon it was full blown what ever it is I have, I've had "Pink Eye" before but its been many years ago, this time what ever this "crap is in my eyes" I have this freaky red hot rash all around my swollen eyes, and its a "hot red rash" like I scalded myself from a burn, hard to explain but my right eye especially is so swollen, oozing out water, tears, snot, something just like a drippy faucet; I repeat it is just miserable and its miserable sitting here trying to type this out and making mistake after mistake Thank you firefox and your silly red line letting me know hey stupid you just misspelled that word...UGH!! bUT This crazy red rash is spreading, I wash out my eyes many many times a day with warm water, or cold water using cotton balls, clean washrags, and everywhere I rub the rash is now there , now its on my upper cheek too and starting up on my nose; Have you ever in your life had such a crazy eye infection?? I don't recall Pink eye doing this and it may not be pink eye but it sure does matter up of a night when you sleep, now that's a weird feeling to wake up and NOT be able to open your eyes; I've got several posts I need to respond too on here, I'm sorry I've not been able too with this "snot eye" situation I have, it even hurts looking at the light here that the computer puts out, that's how sensitive I am right now to light; OWWEEE!! so to those I owe responses too, please bear with me until I can see better, to those I owe emails too, again please bear with me, the old girl here is in a lot of pain; Hopefully my Doctor will have some answers for me tomorrow, with all the benedryl I've taken today I should be konked out asleep hopefully soon; my left eye is started to swell up too now, that is gonna really suck if both of my eyes wind up swollen, ##$$%$$##@@!! Damn it all anyway!!! Even watching TV hurts me...(sigh)!!!

I am so sorry for you, I hope it all gets better quick. I feel for you too. Right now I am in alot of pain too. My mouth hurts, my ear, head, side of my face, my teeth. It feels like the whole side of my head is going to explode. I've taken stuff and its not working. I need some antibiotics but don't have money or health insurance.

Thanks so much GG for the info and for caring. The problem I have is the cost of the dentist. Regular antibiotics would only be $4 at Walmart and even free at Meijers. its just getting the script for them. I am allergic to penicillen, I could get some of them from my mom. I need some erythromycin. I had called them about getting some antibiotics, they want you to come in, they just want money, they have my xrays, that I paid for. I feel better today, last night was bad.

Oh {{Polly honey}} I am so so sorry for you, how awful, do you have an infected tooth or something? Major sinus infection?? Wow!! I used to get a lot of symptoms like what you described years ago, and then I had a lot of dental work done that was while I was still employed and before the MVA which sent me on disability...I need to go to a dentist too badly!! Dear Dear lady I hope something happens and works out for you to where you can get some help and some relief, you are too good of a person to be in so much pain; I know how that is I honestly do; please take care as best you can; {{gentle hugs}}

Good grief, girl!! Why didn't you just go down to your doctor's office? I'll bet if they took one look, they'd have worked you in!! Be sure to let me know what they learned, OK? I'm going to call you, but you're probably asleep. I'm sure you didn't read my news. At least mine is good for once. I'm counting on you getting some good news soon.

A couple of years ago I thought I had pink eye and it was coming up Easter and I sure didn't want to spread the pink eye to others so I went to the doctor. He said it was not pink eye but allergies. He give me something for my sinus/allergies and drops for my eyes and they cleared up in a day or two and felt oh so much better. The only redness I had that would come close to a rash was just from rubbing close to my eye to try to ease it, I didn't rub my eye though. When I read that about the rash spreading where you rub or touch I thought of poison oak or ivy. I sure hope you get relief soon.

Sorry it is still bothering you. When my kids were little one or two of them got pink eye and guess who else got it? Yep, me. It is very miserable for sure so I do know what you are going through. The least bit of light would make my eye hurt so bad and it was just like I was crying. I kept a cold, wet wash cloth with me. I just assumed that was it again a couple of years ago when the doctor said it was allergies. I have found out also since I had pink eye that when a child gets it, it means there is an infection else where in their body. Pink eye is so contagious. Feel better soon.

Hi Sweetheart: Misery loves company doesn't it? Yeah its very contagious; I pray my Cat Screamer doesn't get it; yesterday they mowed over here in my subdivision area, and most of the time grass does not bother me, but boy howdy yesterday I thought I was gonna scream it was so bad and then of course they did the weed eating too yesterday which meant lots more tall grasses and weeds all cut up close to the house and window's ARRGGHHH!! I had a rough night of itchy itchy very itchy eyes today it rained so that has calmed down all the fresh cut grass around here, GGEEZZZ!!! I hope this goes away soon, I've got so much I need to do out at the farm, and around here and can't do it with snot eyes..LOL!! don't you just love my "term" for it?? LOL!!!

HI Kellyjeanne: Yeah its been awful the right eye is almost dried up now, it still leaks a bit during the day and night, I have a good strong antibiotic, and a prescription eye drop for my eyes; I've been trying to keep it from spreading to my left eye, its been itching like crazy but so far its not what I call the "snot eye" LOL! Thank Goodness!! The guy is out mowing today, the grass is wet after last nights rain and storms so hopefully it won't bother me too much today; Love & hugs to you,

I've had pink eye and it wqs really miserable. I just don't remember getting a rash though. The eyes will leak for a few more days but now that you are on anti- biotics it will soon start to clear up. You have to be careful not to reinfect your eyes by touching them. Then they will never get beter. If you are putting in cream into your eyes then use a different ginger to smear as you can re infect them by using the dame finger. I do hope that by tomorrow you will be feeling better. Take care and be kind to yourself

HI Cynthiann: Yep its Pink eye in its worst form; The crazy thing is I am allergic to my own tears and have been all my life, so in combination of my eye dripping like a faucet then me ITCHING IT..yeah I know I am not supposed to touch it or itch it but DANG THAT'S HARD TO NOT DO...LOL! so I was the one making it spread with the rash like crap from my own tears that I'm allergic too...did you ever hear of such a stupid thing?? Being allergic to your own tears?? Well I've never had a red hot rash like that around my eyes ; TERRIBLE MISERABLE ! my doc did put me on a strong antibiotic and a better eye drop for it and I flush it out many times a day and night and constantly wash my hands as I do anyway but more so now with this stuff, I'm trying like hell to make sure it doesn't spread to my left eye, I put eye drops in it too every time I do the other eye; A little rest is always nice but so many things are piling up here on me; and things I need to do out at my Dad's Farm, which I can't do until this infection is gone..(sigh) oh well! thanks for your concern dear friend and for stopping by;

For your eye scrub you need to put a drop of tear free baby shampoo in the water you wash with. There are also prescription antibiotic eyedrops that you can be prescribed. I am going through a lot of this with my clients at work. Lots of allergies and it includes the eyes. I get tearful and red eyes. My doctor says taking Claritin D will take care of it. My eye doctor says that Opcon-A is good, or another one, but I do not remember that. With dealing with so many clients, with different doctors, I have seen all kinds of treatments. I think yours sounds like the worst case I have seen, although one of my clients had the red raccoon eyes. I would think if they are allergy induced the benadryl will help.

I bet benadryl works just as well. It is an older antihistamine, and so it is a lot cheaper, if you buy it by the name diphenhydramine. I do not like the D part of Claritin D and Zyrtec D, it is pseudo ephedrine. That is why it is locked behind the pharmacy counter. The criminal types use it to make speed it is a Central Nervous System Stimulant. I would try plain Claritin, though.
