To domain or not to domain. That is the question.

Ever since I have been spending so much time on the net I keep getting these emails about getting a domain. According to the net you need to get yours before they are all gone. Now I'm hearing about .ws verses .com. They are saying that all the big companies are getting a .ws domain. Frankly I'm confused. Most of the businesses that are commercial based that I see are .com. Other organizations use different listings like .gov for government and .edu for education so why haven't I seen any of these .ws groups?
Do you have a domain? If so what do you use it for?

I want a domain but i have no clue what I would use it for
I might one day when I have a website worth inflicting on the world. If I was to go for one it would be a dot.com or even better an dot ie but to get an ie here you have to be registered as a business and they do cost a lot more.

I can see why coke or Yahoo would need a domain but I don't see how having one for the average person would be any great help. I was suspicious of the claims that you could make so much money by having one and the more I read here the more I think my suspicions were right.

Yes the big business would need a domain. If a baseness does not have a website these day, they are lost. A lot of people think they will get rich off a website with a one man operation, but that rarely happens and it it does I say good luck to them.
I think the likes of me would just have a domain for personal use and fun, if I ever get round to it.

I don't think we have to have a domain. They are just saying that if you choose a domain name, it may have already been taken. The .com, .net, .gov, etc., will never be all used up. It is the name that is in front of it that may be used.

yup i have a .tk domain and it's for free. i use it for my personal website and for my blog site. .com domain looks more or can give your site more professional look and therefore increase its credibility.
there a re cheap domains (.com) out there around 10 $ per year. just search and you'll find one :D

heyy!! actually to domain is good cause you can get rid of those long urls because of the subdomains, and you can choose your own domain, so yea its wayyy better, i haven't checked the .ws thingy. but if you wanna get a domain, you can try .tk it's absolutely free or you can use .co.nr :) too many to choose from
