Hi there, I've been meaning to this question for a long time now. Do you think staring at the computer too long, like 8-10 hours a day can make you blind? I am wearing glasses with quite a high power (700 each side), and I uses the computer a lot. So I seldom wonder whether staring at the computer can increase my specs power or can make one become blind? I would really love to hear your opinion about this subject matter.

I can't see your question...... seriously, I don't of any long term studies that have shown any significant sight loss, I have seen recommendations to take a break every hour or so to focus on other things for a few minutes to give your eyes a break. The biggest issue with computers is carpel tunnel, and neck/back strain.

Hi cj5guy, It's just a concern that I have, that's all. Sometimes I experience little black spots in my eye. Went to a doctor but he said there's nothing wrong in my eye...but my eyes get really tired when sitting in front of the laptop..I guess it's nothing...

Literally no it won't. It's like falling in love with someone. They say love is blind...whatever. agh! I have 20/200 vision and I really can't see very well without my glasses on but I'm not blind considering I spent a lot of hours on my computer everyday. Take care.

It does hurt your eyes but I doubt that will make you blind. Ask a doctor about using false tears if you are too much at the computer. The eyes get dry because you don“t blink as much. Take care.

No it wont, but it can blur your vision. You have to rest your eyes for 10-15 minutes when working on a computer and please keep your distance to the monitor. It wont necessarily damage your eyesight but by your carelessnes it can.
