My Ego and My Skates are Rusting, should I continue skating?  | |  Help! I am confused. I do like figure skating, but I think I started a little bit late that I am not sure whether to still continue my lessons. I get frustrated whenever I see children age 8 or 9 in the same or even higher level than I'm at. I am sixteen already and the girls at the same age as mine are way too far now, I mean for me to reach their level...This makes my self-esteem low and my interest in learning, lower. T_T Should I fight it and carry on or forget it, accept the fact that latecomers do not catch the bus?

Granted, yes, there are a lot of skaters who start young, but you can potentially catch up to them if you take lessons and work extremely hard at it. Olympics is a stretch - but certainly you can still compete and test to Senior level!
I started as an adult - so for you to be 16, you would be way ahead of me. I learned to jump - and I got to my doubles. And I could spin as well as skate other fancy moves. I competed and performed and even went to Adult Nationals . . . I totally skated beyond my wildest dreams!!!
But it all takes time. Be patient and practice. No one learns to skate overnight, but with a lot of quality time spent on the ice, you should be pleasantly surprised with what you can do in such a short amount of time.
