Steve, You know the impact politics can have on education. In the 1960s, students were required t take a course in Communism vs Americanism. After that, once the Cuban population became the majority, that course was abolished. We knew, then, that the US backed Cuba's revolution whole-heartedly AT FIRST. Now that's not to be mentioned. Things changed as Fidel Castro changed, and as his speeches and actions became increasingly Communistic. It's almost as if history were rewritten. Now we've supposedly been fighting the Communist threat posed by Cuba's government all along, and we will continue to do so until Cuba is free. Unless I misunderstand history, Cuba's never actually been free. Some dictators have been more benevolent than others since Cuba declared itself free of Spain, but that's about it.
