A Dentist Visit..

Well today I had to visit the dentist and have a tooth removed. I was surprised that it went so well. The tooth was out in no time, and no pain or extra tugging and pulling. The tooth was a back molar that had a filling in it, and it broke off. I am not one for getting teeth pulled out in the first place, because I'm a chicken when it comes to that. I am also very surprised that now hours later I'm not in any pain at all. I also did not bleed for to long. I have not taken any medication for pain. I have got to go back and have a little more work done, so i'm now not worried. I just can't believe how good I feel.
Has anyone ever had a really good dental visit?
Please don't respond if you have had a bad experience as I still have to go back again. I would like to hear about positive experiences.

I am glad it went well and you are feeling no pain.
I actually have panic attacks when I go to the dentist (don't worry I am not going to talk about a bad experience). I had to have a tooth fixed that had gotten chipped. I was really scared about it and worried I would have a panic attack. I called my regular doctor and told him about my panic attacks, and told him I was scared that I would have a panic attack and I needed to have this tooth fixed. He prescribed me these pills. I took one about 20 minutes before my appointment. I was scared at first and he put the novacain in to numb the area, and I was still pretty scared and starting to panic just a bit, but by the time the novacain had done its thing the pill must have taken affect. I started to feel so relaxed. Nothing the dentist did bothered me and I just kind of layed there completely relaxed. I could not believe how good I felt. I am happy to know now that there is something I can take for the anxiety and I now know that I don't have to be afraid to go to the dentist any more.

Wow that is wonderful! I'm glad y ou made out so well! Can I get some of those pills? I need all the help I can get. I won't get to see this dentist again, I was a refferal from my clinic, she could not do the work on the tooth. But I still have to have more work done and not really feeling good about it, as it is a clinic and I have my doubts, but I will update later as I go along.

You should be able to. Just call your regular doctor and tell him you are experiencing anxiety over having dental work and you need dental work done, and you would like a one time prescription. He should give it to you no problem. My doctor didn't even make me come in for an appointment. He called it right in to the pharmacy for me.

I have had good experiences and bad ones. I think that it all depends on the dentist.
I found a good dentist around 10 years ago and have never felt any pain for any
of my dental work. Even when I have my teeth cleaned it doesn't hurt.
Once you are comfortable with that dentist is part of the pain free experience.
I am sure the rest of your dental work will go just fine.
The numbing agent is also better than what they used to use. The old novacaine
didn't completely numb me, but what they use now, does.
Good Luck, Irish!

Yes I noticed the novacain works faster as well. I also think they are using better stuff these days, and this is a very good thing.

I'm glad your dentist visit went so well!
I actually had a wisdom tooth removed right in my dentist's office and it came RIGHT OUT! I couldn't believe it. I felt some pain afterward as my mouth was healing, but during the procedure it couldn't have gone better. I couldn't believe how quick it was either because my tooth cooperated so well!
Overall I'm not a huge fan of going to the dentist. Most likely because I have a mean dentist. lol I'm not a huge fan of his personality. He's a real smart butt and I don't always know how to take him. I do like how my teeth feel after a visit to the dentist though! :-)

I'm so glad you had a good visit to the dentist! I think now with all the new stuff out it is making it easier. I also feel Dentists are getting a better chair side manner and they know now how nuch people are afraid of them, and that is why people don't go to them, not to mention it cost a lot of money. I have to pay cash, no insurance.
