I do. This afternoon (May 19, 2009) when I was riding my bike all the way home from the supermarket, I rode past my favorite barber shop to find that the shop was empty or out of business. I stopped to ask how come it was empty and got to know that my favorite hairdresser had already given up her business of running her barber shop, which is my favorite as well as many others'. I feel so upset because I plan to have my haircut tomorrow in her shop by her as she does the best job on my hair. She is the owner and hairdresser of the shop. After having some chat with my favorite hairdresser's mother, I got to know the reason why she gave it up. She has been suffering from cutting hair and using the chemical stuff for hair that her nails and fingers are very sensitive to the chemicals. Besides, she has a stiff neck-ache because of working from morning till night. I feel so bad when knowing this and wish her to get well soon. She has run her shop for many years and in the past few years I am her frequent or regular customer as I love the way she cuts my hair. Now I will have to find another good hairdresser or barber that can do as good a job as she does. I wish that she would get well soon after quitting her haircutting job. Now my question is: Do you have a favorite barber or hairdresser? Or do you feel upset when you can no longer have your hair cut by her or by him?

Dear friend, William. Surely I do upset and downing if found my hairdresser closed his business. I got two (2) great unsatisfactorily reasons. He's the one who only cut my hair since I came to Malaysia. Secondly, I am the one who built and published his hair dressing saloon blog. I believe that I am not violating any myLot discussion guideline and user term of agreement by publishing his business blog on here because it is not my blog. Just to give one good proof about who is actually the one person that cut my hair and at the bottom part of his business blog stated my "name" there; web preparatory: MDMN Group. He is a Malaysian Indian. http://hairdressingsaloon.blogspot.com/

Hello Michael. I did not know that you had the same experience as I have. This nice lady hairdresser has been my favorite one ever since I came to work in the small town. Now as she is not doing this business any more, I have to look for another good one like she is. I wish to be lucky to find one soon without having to wait for another couple of times before my finding one. I can see how you like your barber who did a nice haircut for you, as can be seen between the words. Take care, Michael.

Yeah, I used to actually have a hairdresser that I liked for the most part. She moved too far away for me to continue to go to her. After that I got nothing but horrible haircuts until I learned to cut hair on my own. So now if my hairdresser moves, I move with her. ;)

It is good that you can move with her, but I cannot. Because she is now doing some other business like selling groceries. I was told so by her mother. So I will have to go to another barber shop for my haircut. I hope that my hair can be done nicely.

It was a joke, I am my own hairdresser now so if I move, I don't have to worry about finding a hairdresser. That's really the only way to avoid this problem it seems.

It is so cool that you can be your own hairdresser. My brother-in-law used to cut my hair when I was young because he learned how to have a haircut by himself. But it is a pity that we are so far away from each other in a different city now. Otherwise he can help me like he used to years back. It is good that you can use the skill you have learned. Keep it up, friend.

Hi jisir, I’m so sorry to learn that your hairdresser has been suffering from the ache of stiff neck for long time standing due to her daily work. She should take a shampoo girl to help her to wash the customers’ hair. Hope that after having an assistant she could have at least a short while of rest. I think she is better to wear rubber gloves to protect her hands when doing the shampooing as well. But I wonder whether her customers like the gloves or not. Yeah, I like to visit the same hairdresser all the time. I feel relieved to let my favorite hairdresser to trim my hair without telling her a word before trimming. I trust her cutting skill fully. I believe she knows all her regular customers’ need very well I’m quite satisfied with her well service all the time. She has the same shampoo girl to help her in the washing job, so she doesn’t have any problem in her daily work. I hope you will find another favorite and nice hairdresser very soon. So that you still could get your hair service available before the former hairdresser could resume her normal work as usual. Happy posting and have a great day!

I guess I would if I had any favorite. I do like the one hairdresser business in the mall. But I don't have a favorite person to cut and style my hair, all of the hairdressers working for this business are pleasant and professional. It's called Magicuts. They don't charge much either and I can get free cut within a week if I don't like the first one they did previously, it's worth the money. although now we live with tight budget I will go there once our situation gets better.

Hello LittleMel. It is around ten days since I went to another barber shop for a hair cut. Technically it is ok and I like it, but it is very expensive, double the price than I used to pay for my favorite lady hairdresser. I think I am going to look for another one, as good and cheap as my first one. I need to find my favorite one before I visit the shop regularly. Have a good day, my dear friend.

One beautician was coming to our house and doing hair cut and other beauty requirements to all ladies at home. She got married and shifted to some other place and could not come all the way to our quarters. I really had much inconvenience as I did not have time to go to parlour and get it done. Then I have shifted my house and even took retirement so I have a parlour nearby and have much time to spare and the problem is solved. Have a good day friend.

Hello Buchi_bulla. It was so nice of the beautician to come to serve you residents in the quarters, which is really convenient to you all. I am glad to tell you that I have found another good hairdresser that does a good job to my hair. Her shop is not far away from where I work, ten minutes' walk, but it is double the price I pay her for the haircut. Anyway, nothing can make me happy to have found a good hairdresser though it is more expensive. Take care, friend.

I've been the hairdresser that had to stop my business. I was a hairdresser a few years ago and I quit to become a teacher. It was hard telling my customers that I was quitting, but I had to do what was best for me, you know? I still think about getting back into it sometimes, but doing hair can be a hard business to make money in depending on the area and I live in an a area that has a lot of competition. I did a few customer's hair at my house for awhile after I quit, but it got to be a hassle and I had to stop that. I did recommend someone to all my customers that I thought they would like.

Hello Flight. The hairdresser outside our school in the country lane is very nice and she is very popular with us for her excellent work. She had so many customers that they seldom went to the one next to hers, which lacks competition compared with hers. She was making good money, but she had to quit it because of years of using the stuff for dying, washing the hair and so on, which led to her having some problems with her poor skin. I wish you did not have this problem when you were in the same line, my dear friend. Take care.

All the good connections in our life are going to end one after another one day.The baker, launderer, electrician, plumber, the barber and the lot.It is really a miserable situation finding another barber who is not familiar with your taste. He can make a complete mess of the thing and you got to wait till the next turn and wait for your hair to grow.I have started using a trimmer to cut my hair anticipating all these problems.

Hello balasri. It is hard for me to find a good one that is familiar with my taste when my hair needs to be cut. I am trying to find one and I am sure it takes time though. Take care, friend.

i know some people only go to the same person all the time (like my mom - she knows all about my mom and my family!) i am not like that. i do, however, go to the same shop and well, since it is a chain, i dont think it will go out of business any time soon.

I agree that some people only go to the same person like I do. I used to have some other barbers, but they did not do as good a job as she could. I wish I were lucky to find as good a hairdresser or barber as my favorite one.

Yes, in the past there was a good hair dresser nearby the place I work. But he quit it and after that, I haven't found a hair dresser which can have a satisfactory haircut for me. In fact right now I am still looking for a good hair dresser. By the way, yesterday was my birthday:) We will be back to Guangzhou tonight. My little boy said he loved Hainan and didn't want to go back:) I love China

I night be upset when my hairdresser will no longer be available but surely, i will be sad. It is true that so hard to find one that you can trust to handle your hair. Now, from this topic, I conclude that using chemicals in our hair is damaging. If the hairdresser suffer some damages because of chemicals, how much more for people who are using chemicals on their hair? I usually do that before.. have my hair done using chemicals to straighten it or to curl it.. so now, I will never use that for my hair.

Hello Bebs. It is true that many of us have been using those chemicals as well on our head or hair like dying the hair, straightening the hair, making the hair curly etc. In fact, I have my hair dyed black once a month because of the gray hair on my head. The problem is that I am still working and I am still young to have so much gray hair that I hate. But I won't mind if I am old enough to get retired at sixty. Sometimes I dream to have natural black hair grow instead of gray hair. I know it is a dream only. Still I have a lot of worries for using the stuff for dyeing the hair. Feeling sad for it...but there is no better way for it. Because I cannot leave it gray as all the other teachers with gray hair also have their hair dyed...

I ever gone through this problem, so i understand how you feel when your favorite hairdresser had stopped her business.. I have one favorite hairdresser too, which i liked to visit her because she was able to transformed my style beautifully. I had been her loyal customer for years. But unlucky, she had migrated to Australia with her family, a few months ago. Now, i had tried a new hairdresser which is quite near to my house. But, seems like, i don't really likes the way this new hairdresser cut my hairstyle. It's time for me to search for another hairdresser again..

Hello cindy. Yes,it is cool, but I don't usually go out of school unless I have to go shopping because I don't have much time going out to play. Once I go out, I always go to my favorite supermarkets in the town. I had planned to have a haircut when I posted this post, but when I saw her closed business, I am still letting my hair to grow till I cannot suffer. hehe. I wish the man barber next to hers can do a good job to me when I go to his. It is right now raining here as well though it is not very big. Rain makes us feel cool. I like this kind of rain that is not big. Enjoy your life, friend.

Yes. I feel upset. I can understand your feelings. Once, I liked to go to the barber shop near my university. However, the boss closed her shop because she was pregnant. I should feel happy when heard this news, because she would be a mother soon. But I was upset those days because I must choose another hairdresser to have my hair cut. Now, I like to go to a barber shop on campus. I wish you will find your favorite barber soon.

Morning, friend. I am going to have a haircut in another couple of days though I wanted to have it cut earlier. I think that I will try the barber shop next to hers in the hope that my hair can be done as nicely as she did for me. Good day, friend.
