On the radio yesterday, 2 teens were driving along the Interstate highway 285 in the vicinity of their school area. The truck was losing control and crashed. One was found dead, while another one was transported to nearby hospital with critical condition. The accident was happened around 2:00 A.M. in the morning, and what they were doing around this hour, it is still a question. There was a possibility they were drunk, because alcohol was found. Nowadays, those teenagers just won't pay close attention to their own safety. Should we leash them or what?

I don't think you should group all teens as bad drivers and irresponsable. I know plently of adults who drive dangerously/drink and drive. Where I live you can get your learners at 14 and your drivers at 16. I don't think changing the age to 18 is going to make a big difference. Sure the kid will get more safe driving practice with a parent, but if a person is going to drive recklessly at 16, they will drive recklessly at 18. I know 16 year olds and I know 18 year olds, and to tell you the truth, their maturity level is practically the same. There are only small differences. I am 17, and don't yet have my learners or my drivers because I don't feel the need to drive yet, I don't want that responsability. Although I will probably be getting my learners before my 18th birthday because I have to take some sort of step towards growing up.

I have always personally thought that the age a person can get their drivers license should be raised, i think that it would be fine to have a permit where there always has to be an adult with you while driving.....I just think that most teens are still young and wild and so I don't think that they are ready to handle the responsibility of driving. Im only 22 so it hasn't been very long since i was a teen, but i felt the same way when i was one.
