I just got on to check in and check right back out and get back to bed. I had an emergency appendectomy on Saturday morning, May 16th. I feel awful but better than I did on Saturday! This must be what a wet newspaper feels like.
I'm not one of those that enjoys the feeling that narcotics give you so I don't even have the pleasure of getting a thrill from my pain meds.
I'll answer what I can when I'm back up and around and try to catch up with everyone. I hope you are all doing well and I hope to be back among you in a few days. Till then, keep smiling and remember how wonderful it is to have all the medical advances we enjoy!

I'm sleeping a lot and watching a lot of old movies. Thank goodness for whoever invented the laser lot so I can run my dogs around. They are not used to not playing! I am just today beginning to get back on the internet.

Oh, glad you are home and able to rest now.
Ouch. sorry to hear about your emergency appendectomy. I remember that mostly only happened to classmates and friends when I was in elementary or middle school, only when we were very young. I don't remember it happening much older than that, though mostly appendicitis, I think.
Rest up, have fun watching movies, and don't laugh too hard watching any fun movies (to save your tummy area pain!). ;o)

Oh good for you. I've never heard of that movie. What I just saw yesterday was so nostalgic and fun. I told my family to rent it and watch. Remember "Sister Act" starring Whoopi Goldberg? I remember when it was in the theater. I forgot how much I enjoyed it. Funny and touching too. Music is great too.

I'm having a grand time catching up on all the old movies I've recorded. Last night I started "Within our Gates", the only existing print of a 1920 silent film made by an African American, Oscar Micheaux, who wrote and directed it. I love the silent era.

I hope they were able to do it laprascopic so you'll heal alot faster. I don't wish the joys of surgery on anyone. Take it easy and stop by when you are able :)

Sounds like "fun". I know the pain I had a c-sect with my last baby & that next to $ is the main reasons we are DONE!
I loved being pg, but not the recovery from the c-sect. HOpefully yours isn't as bad as a c-sect was on me.
I had laprascopic gallbladder surgery and that was a snap in comparison!

No, big ole scar! I had an umbilical hernia from being pregnant with my youngest and largest child and the doctor thought it was important to fix that so had to go in. There was other nearby scar tissue, too, that didn't let him do it lap-style. Otherwise I'd be bounding around breathing fire and bouncing off the walls! Right now I'm just hobbling around on vicodin.

Thank you, dear friend! They gave me pills for the pain and today I am up and moving around much as usual, only a lot more slowly. It's been a week and I wish I were better than I am but as we age we heal a little less fast. Still, I'm doing very well! I should not have gone out shopping for dog food today but other than that I am fine. Things will progress nicely. Thank you for thinking of me!

Thank you! I need virtual hugs, real ones would hurt. I'm doing quite well, I think, and I love the fact that I haven't much of an appetite. Another benefit!

haha Dragon, now you are a sick dragon, take care and hope you can breath fire soon.
They should give you those liquid morphine which is sweet with nice taste. Then you can enter sweet dreams and dream on and on.
Fortunately just a small problem you are getting. Cheer up, hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Dragon, glad you recover. Hope you can breathe fire soon!
You are really fortunate to have neighbors and friends able to help you. Most of my neighbors are so busy, hardly ever see them at home. That's why many people prefer to stay in hospital or nursing home, so that they have hot meals cooked for them.

Thank you, it gets better each day. At least I can sleep on my side now, before it was only on my back and that was miserable. With the pain killers, I'm getting along pretty well.

One of the wonderful side effects of this surgery is my nearly total disinterest in food. In fact, if I eat much I don't feel well. I'll ask the doc about this when I see him on Tuesday but it's been a Godsend for my weight control. Before, you could hear my stomach growling across the room even after a big meal. I was hungry!!! Now, a piece of toast is good for the whole morning.
