I watched a moved last night called "The Girl Next Door" based on a true story that happened in 1958 in New Jersey. It's about two girls who parents die in a car accident and has to go live with their Aunt. The Aunt proceeds to torture the girls especially the older girl. Has anyone else seen this movie or is there anyone out there that knows the facts of the case from 1958? I looked online and couldn't find more info on this case. I wanted to know what happen to the boys involved in the torture and whatever happen to the little sister? If you know a website that I can find the information that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The movie was based on a novel by Jack Ketchum. The entire book is not true but is based on the true story of the murder of Sylvia Likens in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1965.
There were two boys from the neighborhood involved in the murder, they were also charged in the case. The real girl in the story was the daughter of carnival workers who had left them in the care of another family while they were on the road. Her parents were to pay the family for the caretaking of their children.
If you search for Sylvia Likens on Wikipedia you can get all the details of the real case that the novel built its story upon.

Thank you so much for your response. I will look it up. I hope that most of the tortur that poor girl went thru was not true. My daughter and I were brawling our eyes out at the end. It was very painful to watch. Thanks again!
