Memories on Memorial Day  

I missed my grandmother. She is so special in my heart, I guess everyone had someone to miss. There is life and there is also death. Even though i miss a lot of people who passed away in my life but i had to keep going. Thanks for sharing this

I am away from home - in the UK as a matter of fact - will be flying home thursday. My first husband was in the military for a lot of years - he died in 1993. If I was home I would go to the cemetary - put all new flowers out and a new stars and stripes flag. If it hasn't been done it will be one of the first things I do when I get there. I love my current husband because he always goes with me and once we are done changing the flowers and flag he will bow his head for a minute or more.

My grandfather fought in the battle of the Argonne Forest in Germany in WWI. He suffered all his life from the effects of the mustard gasses used and there was a sadness to him that never quite left his eyes even when he was laughing and having a good time.

I will always be grateful to our veterans and our military, and their families. Their families suffer the most and I thank them for their sacrifices.

my parents and grandparents. i usually go out to the cemetery on memorial day but didnt make it this year. thats ok though, i was just out there on mothers day and visited all of them. my sister did manage to make it out there though and put american flags on all the graves.
