Hard to believe that 1 yr. ago we were listing our place for the first time. We had it on the market about 4 1/2 months or so, and ended up pulling it due to lack of interest, etc. and then thought about what we really wanted to do, and are now ready to relist it again, and hope for something positive to come from it this time as well. We are selling a one bedroom condo in the Seattle area for $110,000. We are really wanting to move to our own home somewhere, and just ready to get away from Condo Fees, and nosey noisey neighbors, and just be able to do more things we like to do without having to worry about others. They are saying if the price is right, then places are selling, so we are hoping we stand a good chance with out place being listed this low as well. Has anyone else sold any property lately, or have a place on the market? What are some tips and thoughts that have helped you along your journey as well? I know even with the added stress at times in time this will all be for the best. ~~TINA~~

I wish you luck! It will be nice to get somewhere where you don't have all that to worry about.

Hey Tina, I didn't know that you were putting your Condo on the market! I thought that owning a Condo was the best way to go these days! I have been renting my apartment for 29 years now! If I had any idea that I was going to stay here anywhere near that long I would have moved somewhere that I could have bought into and had something that I "owned"! Instead I have pretty much "thrown" out thousands of dollars in rent over the years and have nothing to show for it! Of course when I moved into my apartment I was in my twenties, my first apartment with my then fiancee and had no idea what was going to happen! Threw him out after a year, kept the apartment and the story goes on from there! I have a low rent compared to what I could have since I have lived here so long, but it is still pretty high and like I said I have nothing to show for it since it is a rental, with no options to buy and I wouldn't buy this place even if I could because it needs too much work and they couldn't get it up to code anyway! It is a great apartment, don't get me wrong! I love it! It has nice sized rooms, it's a garden style apartment so only 2-floors, and it feels kind of like living in a house since I am on the ground floor! But, at least you have something to show for your time and money! You will get something for your investment and that is great!

I wish you much luck at selling it.....I have often thought that I might look into a condo but after reading your post it says exactly what I wanted to hear. I wondered about having neighbors so close and with shared walls....I have lived in the same house for over 30 years.....don't plan on selling anytime soon but wish you once again the best of luck selling it!

I'm sorry I can't offer you any advice about selling a condo, or selling anything like that to begin with. My fiance and I haven't even ventured to buying us a home yet but I hope that the advice given in this discussion will help you!

I haven't tried selling anything recently but I do have one little tip that helps. Whenever you're having someone come to look at your condo, brew some coffee. The smell of coffee often makes people think of "home". It's a smell most people identify with and always with positive thoughts. Don't have photographs of yourself or anyone else around. That unconsciously makes people think of it as 'your' home, not theirs. I have a house in another county that I've been debating over selling or moving into. I think I've decided to sell it. I bought a brass door knocker for the front door that has a space to have your name engraved. I'm planning on having one word engraved on it: "HOME". It will unconsciously make people associate that property with "home"... not MY home, but their home. Make sure that all lights work and that the place isn't cluttered. The less of 'your' stuff that's there, the easier it is for prospective buyers to envision 'their' stuff being in there. I wish you much luck in selling your condo! I know exactly what you mean about condo fees and nosey, noisy neighbors! We lived in a condo before moving here and the condo fees were $110.00 a month, plus we lived right next-door to the president of the association who was always "peeking" at me... it was creepy! The houses there were selling in the $400,000.00 plus range. One was on the market for $499,900.00. I convinced my husband to put ours on the market for $399,900.00. (We didn't have a finished basement like that other one had.) There were 4 other homes for sale when we put ours on the market and they were all over $400,000.00. I told my husband that, if we went under $400,000.00, more people would be curious as to why it was cheaper than the others, and I was right! We had many more people come look at our house than the others did. Our house had a contract on it within 2 months and we got our exact asking price!
