2. mylesnarvaez (1620) | 7 months ago | is this the movie with will smith and his son (in real life)?
i thought it was very moving and so realistic. the story is simple that showed the struggle to survive and overcome trials in life. i remember how father and son will fight their way to a shelter just to have a bed for the night. it was a shocker for me to see that kind of living for first world countries. but i guess that happens.
i admire people who persisted and came through bad phases of their lives. i admire their belief and hope that tomorrow brings a new day and a better one than before.

Even if he don't have money and no house to live in he never abandoned his child. I think it is a true to life story he work hard to be able to achieve his status right now. I remembered when Will Smith and his child has no house to sleep over so they need to find a temporary shelter for his child.

| 6. zangozango (63) | 7 months ago | Based on a true story about a man named Christopher Gardner. Gardner has invested heavily in a device known as a "Bone Density scanner". He feels like he has made these devices. However, they do not sell as they are marginally better than the current technology at a much higher price. On top of that, one of these does not work. As Gardner tries to figure out on how to fix the faulty one and sell the others, his wife leaves him, he loses his house, his bank account, and credit cards. Forced to live out in the streets with his son, Gardner is now desperate to find a steady job; he takes on a job as a stockbroker, but before he can receive pay, he needs to go through 6 months of training, and to sell his devices. Written by John Wiggins
In 1981, in San Francisco, the smart salesman and family man Chris Gardner invested the family savings in Ostelo National bone-density scanners, an apparatus twice more expensive than x-ray with practically the same resolution. The white elephant financially breaks the family, bringing troubles to the relationship with his wife that leaves him and moves to New York. Without money and wife, but totally committed with his son Christopher, Chris sees the chance to fight for a stockbroker internship position at Dean Witter, disputing for one career in the end of six months training period without any salary with other twenty candidates. Meanwhile, homeless, he has all sorts of difficulties with his son. Written by Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Chris Gardner has big dreams for him and his family but it doesn't seem to come together for him. Chris has an opportunity to be a stock broker but first he has to go through a grueling internship which means no pay. Chris decides to do it but when his wife leaves and he is evicted, he has to take care of his son on his own. So they find themselves sometimes living on the street and struggling to get by. But Chris is determined to make it.

8. v4vikas (1439) | 6 months ago | Since it is based on a true story, all of you who would want to say it is a cheesy story, can keep your big mouths shut. I've heard this kind of allegations before, against some of the most beautiful of movies.
Leaving out a few minor goofs, here and there, the movie is flawless. The movie is about a man's journey through different phases of his life, looking for that tiny little phase called happiness. We all go through the same phases maybe with a little difference. The movie shows the pain of defeat, despair of loss, boredom of routine, and ultimately the peace of victory. It never goes overboard to show, how sad a man's life can be. Even amidst the saddest phases, there are moments of hope, wonder, inspiration, a little bit of help or a shove towards the right direction. Similarly, even when things seem to look good, a blow falls. What it stresses on, is how far one would go to realise his dreams. How much, would one be ready to withstand but still keep going, holding on to the little positives that come up here and there. How much, or how long, is one ready to believe in the Self.
It also beautifully portrays the father-son relationship. Personally, I think a little more stress on just the father-son relationship would make me love the movie even more. But, then again there's no limit to what one wants.
I say, once again, Will Smith did an impeccable job. The little kid was also great. The chemistry between the two actors was splendid and undeniably REAL.
One of the best movies I've ever seen!!!

9. sblossom (1379) | 5 months ago | i watched the movie when it was just on cinema. i was moved by the words in the movie too. his performance was fantastic, so his son's performance too. By the way do you know the little boy is his son in life. it's fun to see the father and son performing on one stage.
I think the theme of the film is to encourage people to hold hope in your mind, never give up. although life is too practical, but we should not give up.
he became a stock dealer, the process was amazing. in our real life it is not so easy for us to change life so rapidly, especially when you don't have a particular certificate.
of course the movie is worthy watching. i'm his fan too.

| 10. xtsunami (6) | 2 months ago | My insight on the film. How can we be happy? In Pursuit of Happiness, Will Smith plays Chris Gardner, a motivated man living on the last of his means. Chris is constantly looking for a consistent quality of life, but seems to get beaten down at every road. A few times throughout the movie, Gardner expresses his thoughts on happiness, and whether or not it is actually attainable. Happiness can be looked at in many ways, but I will outline two of them: Short-Term and Long-Term happiness.
Short-Term happiness is achievable by anyone. Regardless of your age, gender, social status, economic status, etc. It can be experienced everyday. The exciting feeling of getting that paycheck, the excitement of watching your favorite movie, the internal joy of expressing gratitude, or it can be the motivational nudge received when you complete an activity/goal. We may not notice, but feelings of happiness occur often throughout our lives, we just need to know how to look for it. It can strike us when we need it most: In Pursuit of Happiness, Chris gains short-term happiness when he sells each bone density scanner for $250. It is the happiness that he will be able to sustain his family for another month. And it also provides him with enough happiness to accomplish his long term goal of becoming a stock broker.
Long-Term happiness is much more difficult to notice in our everyday lives. 60% of our long-term happiness is predetermined at birth (genes, heredity), and the the other 40% is determined by what we do in our lives. Some people are genetically inclined to be more happy than others. But regardless, we all have our long-term goals, set with the intention of making us happier. We tell ourselves, "I am going to finally be happy when I achieve this goal". But when the goal is achieved, the happiness soon goes away, and we are looking for more things to make us happy. Long-Term happiness is very difficult to notice; and is a gift of living. Try to monitor your happiness levels for a day, and try to notice how happy you are.
We are all different in virtually unlimited ways, but we are all looking for happiness. Happiness can be experienced in life everyday, in both the short and long term. Look for both, and be twice as happy. The Pursuit of Happiness inspired me to write about the different types of happiness in our lives. Whether short-term or long-term, we all have something to be happy about.:D
