How do you stay motivated to complete big projects?

My Sister's Quilt - Here's the very beginning of the quilt. I have almost her entire name down now (minus one letter), but it's not all in this picture.

This is a question that I'm always curious about because I have a bad habit of starting a project and then setting it aside for a new one. I've been working on crocheting one blanket for about a year now. My latest large project (besides my writing endeavors) is a quilt for my little sister with her name going across the top of it and embroidery down the sides. Problem is, I haven't even finished the squares with her name on them! It takes a lot of time and effort and I get bored with it after a while. So what do you do to keep yourself motivated to finish things you start?

I would leave it out, make sure that it is in sight when ever you might be sitting around bored. I leave my writing up on the computer, I leave my crafts on the table and if I'm working on clothing or something I make sure to keep the project on the manikin so its always in view. I still might lag around a little, but if I want to get the stuff out of the living room I better finish the project!

That's a great idea! Sometimes I just simply forget about the projects I'm working on, so I'll start trying to leave them out so that I keep them fresh in my mind. Thanks. :)
