I have a Fiji digital camera which was working fine but the screen suddenly went a few weeks ago, I was chatting to one of my brothers on the phone and cameras were mentioned in the conversation and I said I was having problems with mine, he said he had just bought a new one I could have his old one and I said thats great thanks. What I didn't realise was that it was an £800 camera super jobby as it arrived yesterday. How spoilt am I? I am too scared to use it LOL. What a lovely gift, my brother could have sold it so how kind of him to think of me instead bless. Have you ever been stunned and surprised by a gift? What type of camera do you have? Would you be scared to use such an expensive item? Huggles Ellie :D

Hi Ellie, that was really kind of your brother, it is so nice when fanily think like that..you are really lucky and blessed. At one time I needed a new suite but could never afford it and my nephew got a new one but asked me if I wanted his old one as he knew I needed a new suite so he gave me his old three piece suite and it is cream leather, so that I was really blessed with..that is the one thing that has made me really humble...huggles LoLo xx

Hi Ellie you are so right, all these things that people get rid of that are to them 'old' or 'out of date' to people like us mean a lot more..and it was a beautiful gesture of my nephew and his wife to think to give the suite to me, am sooo thankful! lol huggles LoLo

Wow! Congratulations! I have a little pink Olympus that is just fabulous. It's really easy to use and has a re-chargeable battery. I really love it. It has a marvellous zoom capacity. My last camera stopped working, then next time I tried it, the whole program was wiped off it. It ha d formatted itself somehow. What can you do with a blank camera??
I'd probably not be able to use your Canon...have you worked out how to switch it on yet?
. With any of the new gadgets coming out, I find I'm better off if they are as simple as possible.

Hi MsTickle, I would usually choose something that is practical and very easy to use but this one is amazing, my daughter showed me where to charge it and yes I have finally worked out how to turn it on, now need to work out how to transfer to computer LOL. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi Jill, Yes I think I would have cried at that one too, hpw lovely of your daughter. I haven't even worked out how to charge the battery up yet so it will be a while before I can take a picture. All instruction manuals and disks included but not in English LOL. Good idea though to send him a picture of me smiling through the camera lens eh! Huggles. Ellie :D

Hello Ellie. He must be a professional photographer, or a professional wannabe anyway :D There are people obsessed by computers, others by phones, others by cars, i guess your brother falls in the digital cameras category ;)
I guess it was really lucky and quite a shock on your face to see that "old" camera that is probably better than what the usual person would buy as new for standard picture these days.
I probably would be scared to use it i must admit ;)

I knew that there was a reason why I always wanted a brother! You are so lucky to have a brother like that. I have never bought an expensice camera in my life. At present, I am using a 10 yerar old Pentax that my sister discarded as he rpuppy had a little chew. I need it cleaned but it has served me well. I would have been so surprised to have received such an expensive gift too. I think that last time I was really stunned was when my husband replaced my engagement ring. He gave it to me the Christmas before our 20th wedding anniversary. My original ring had been stolen and he spent all this money on a new ring. I could not stop crying and breakfast sis not get cooked that morning

Hi Jayrene, I think once I have worked out how to use it as it has so many features and extra lenses etc I will be fine but honestly thought it would be a cheap digital camera like I already had. I am so very lucky and feel blessed to have such a wonderful brother. Some of the camera phone these days though are so good too. That was lovely of your boyfriend, thanks for sharing. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi ellie,
Wow! ellie, what a wonderful gift that your brother give you, wish I had brothers like that but they too tight lol, my hubby bought one recently and it was about £80, not too bad as I have just learnt to use the camera, not used to new things. I hope you have a sot of wonderfuls hours taking pictures of the kids. Love and huggles.

How lucky is that? I wanted a digital camera for a long time until my sister gave me one for my birthday. It is a Pentax Optio S10 with 10 megapixels and digital SR (whatever that means). It is a great little camera and it takes really good photos especially for me who is not exactly talented as a photographer.
Don't worry too much about using an expensive camera, once you are used to it you will be fine with it. Enjoy your gift ellie; you'll have to upload some photos for us to see!

Hi Paula, I can't wait now to use it but will have to read all the instructions first but I was scared initally of having such an expensive one especially as my dad said to me how much it had cost my brother and I wasn't to break it LOL just to make me feel better, not. I am blessed with a great brother as he could have sold it and bought me a cheapy one if he wanted to but no he gave me this one. Huggles. Ellie :D
